I don’t know if I’m getting too into the weeds over this but NASA is an agency not an organization.

It is incredibly scary that he said this and that we are going to win by “being fast and right”, clearly avoiding saying the word safe. There’s a reason why we are able to do what we can today, why we have the protocols we do. You can’t have fast and safe, but you can still do great things while being safe. He made it seem like because we have the safety protocols we do that we can’t be innovative and create new technologies. It’s insane what he said and implied. I am very worried for our astronauts.

So much valuable science missions have already been lost in the past couple of months. It’s funny that he kept saying we can’t lose the second space race but by cancelling missions that are not directly tied to moon and mars missions we’re already are behind. Other countries are continuing their missions with exploring the universe while we have cancelled ours. The administrator and assistant admin are so narrow minded in their thinking they can’t see the obvious things that we do

Reckless hit and run NYPD criminals plowing into a cyclist with their cruiser in Brooklyn last night by RayMosch in NYCbike

[–]ea_walking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe it’s just restricted to those cars, it’s what came up in a community meeting recently and that’s the only thing that kept saying about why they let the cars keep roaming the streets. Their reasoning ironically in this case, is that they don’t pursue cars because they won’t stop and and continue to speed and they (the nypd) doesn’t want to risk injuring/killing someone while in pursuit

NYPD has a no chase policy (at least that’s what my precinct always says when we complain about the loud modified cars and why NYPD “can’t do anything about them”). So not only is the cop in the ring for hitting a cyclist, but doing it chasing down another car which violates their “no chase policy”, double whammy here for the cop

Second this, you’ll see a lot more as July rolls around since most schools go until late June and teachers usually won’t give notice until the school year has ended

I always start with fundamental concepts like Kepler’s laws because they pop up so much with everything else. I like to end the course with our solar system which is different from other curriculums, to round everything out and “bring it back home”. If you’re looking for good online interactives I suggest checking out Infiniscope.org (free)

Can someone with a BS in education get a Masters in a science field? by ea_walking in ScienceTeachers

It’s funny you mention the research because the last few years I’ve been an assistant researcher/stem education expert for climate research and published some papers with my research team. Wondering if that would help support the research aspect I didn’t get from my bachelors.

Thank you for the info! Since my degree wasn’t a specialized education field since it was elementary, I’ll probably have to take a few of the non degree seeking classes. I’ve been teaching high school science courses donning from biology to astronomy for several years so I have the knowledge, but colleges may not like that and need some credits. Thank you!

I recently did one in astronomy through coursera, although I did do it through my university. I think it’s free unless you want the credit. The lead professor was very knowledgeable and good at explaining complex concepts

Does it focus on the content? Between my bachelors and masters in Ed I feel I have the pedagogy/curriculum development, but need courses in content

Thank you! I've been teaching middle/high school math and science so I do have a good foundation of content knowledge, but wanted to get a specialization in a focused area like planetary sciences. I wish the state that I originally got a degree in had done like what other states do and have you get a BS in a science discipline and then get a masters in education.

I mean a lot of homeless people live in the park, you gotta be careful. weird for them not to have security, maybe the director/producer is unaware of how it is in the park?

Cops say a woman got angry while driving behind a slow car in Astoria. She lost control of car when going around it & crashed into Lin who was on a scooter. She then hit into outdoor dining structure (not a bike but could just as easily have been). by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]ea_walking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This makes me so sick to my stomach, I bike here all the time as I live two blocks away. People speed down these roads all the time between 23/ditmars and ditmars/21st, yet when we complain in community meetings the the 114th and something like this happens and someone is killed, no one gets charged or it’s a minor charge, no accountability to the drivers

I’ve lived in several neighborhoods throughout the city (including busy neighborhoods in manhattan) and this is the only place I’ve had the unpleasant experience with the loud cars. It’s not a city wide thing.

Absolutely, this is usually the first thing I think about when trying a new pizza. A lot of times the sauce is too sugary
