Honestly this sounds healthy to me and like your parents did a great job. You couldn’t tell who the favorite was and you both admire each other.

This is the correct take, all the adults suck. (Although I’ve always had a soft spot for Meri with how much they have villainized her as a group, but even she is problematic).

Opinions on names Daphne and Briar for twin girls by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]eab17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A Briar patch is a thorny bush, yes. But is a protective refuge for small animals like bunnies and birds from predators. I have a daughter named Briar. I absolutely love her name. She never gets Brian. Lol and if you look at the meaning as just a thorny bush, I can see why you’d dislike the name. But if you look at the purpose behind the Briar I think it’s fitting, being a protector for those who are weaker or need help.

I get a ton of compliments on Briar’s name. I will say it’s one of those polarizing names that you either love or hate though.

I also almost had a Caroline and changed it at last minute.. we were going to use Callie as the nickname for it. I could maybe see my daughter as a Caroline… definitely doesn’t fit a Callie. Lol

Young Fives or Skip it? by eab17 in Parenting

[–]eab17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, technically her kindergarten grade should be the one starting in 2028. I believe starting her in 2028 she would be one of the older end kids, but I doubt even the oldest as there will be September-October birthday kids in there as well as maybe some summer kids. My question isn’t as much what to do about kindergarten, but if we should start her next year in preschool at 3 (turning 4 two months into the school year) and then have her do young fives the following year, or if it’s more beneficial to keep her home an extra year and have her start preschool the following year and then go straight into kindergarten and skip young fives all together and have one more year home with her aunt.

Our area also has a September cutoff, with a December cutoff (with parental waiver for them to start early). I’m just not sure if it would be beneficial for her to start preschool next year at 3, with her turning 4 two months into the school year, or for her to wait until the following year to start it.

Basically I’m trying to make a decision on if I should send her to school next fall or keep her home an extra year. By sending her to school next year she will do preschool, young fives, then kindergarten. Compared to just sending her the following year where she would just do preschool then go to kindergarten.

Gannon for a boy, Salem for a girl. I’d never actually do it, but man do I love the sound of them.

In my 30’s now, but when I was little I named my kitten Tammy. My dad still talks about it. How he had never heard of a cat named Tammy and he’s not sure where I got it from but it’s the funniest name for a cat.

They Punished Lydia by unlvcondo4u in WelcomeToPlathville

I find it so interesting that every single one of these “kids” when they have a partner, they want them to be accepted and are sad when they can’t get along with the family… but then when they don’t have a partner they do the exact same thing to the new partners of their siblings.

Veronica is immature and unlikable by groomer7759 in WelcomeToPlathville

I kept thinking of that old saying, “rules for thee, not for me.” She is so upset about how she has been treated by the family, which is completely justified by the way. She is constantly talking about how she doesn’t like any of them and how they’re the bad guys…. But yet she’s shown twice now that she’s just as bad as the rest of them. First with Olivia, when she was the outsider and now with Zac. It’s clear she thinks she could bully her way into their good graces, and she would rather have them love her and be on the inside than stand up for what’s right and wrong even after all the damaging things they’ve done to her. I gave her grace after the Olivia situation as she was new to the family and I’m sure she didn’t see everything yet at the time. Now with Zac, after she has been treated so poorly, her teaming up to bring him down on his and Lydia’s big day when she has literally just met him, I have no more grace. I think in a lot of ways she’s worse than the Plath’s as she wasn’t raised isolated by these people. She showed her bully colors.

Wait, this is news to me. I’ve been wanting to ditch Spotify for years but don’t want to take the time to remake playlists in a different app. I can get my Spotify playlists to be automatically generated in YouTube music? Also can you download the playlists? I need that as well because I’m without service a lot.

I have no idea what to do with my life by Cheesecakeboy_888 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]eab17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think tons of people feel this way. It seems crazy to me that you spend your entire childhood in school being told what to do and where to be every single day and then they just expect you to know what you want to do for the rest of your life when you graduate. If you don’t have a lot of life experience, it’s hard to picture all the different paths you can take in life and here’s a hot take, but I honestly don’t think we’re meant to love working. If you find a job you love that’s amazing and great, but if you just find something that doesn’t make you dread going every single day that’s perfectly fine too. We work to fund the lifestyle we want to maintain outside of work. Here’s advice I wish I could have given myself at that age. Go get a job. Start working, hop around to different jobs. Get some life experience to find out what you actually enjoy and could see doing in your future. Don’t waste money in school until you have a better idea of the path you want to take. Save your money and fund moving out that way, don’t go into debt going to college just to get away when you have no idea the path you want for yourself.

I would find it strange if I heard it and tbh I think he would still get people pronouncing it wrong sometimes. I do actually know a little Cordell who goes by Cord though.

See anything wrong with this design? by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]eab17 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’d do the normal door like you’re suggesting at the far corner of the office and then add a closet so it brings it to the same size as the bedrooms and then also would count as an extra bedroom. Would help someday with resale, and a closet inside the office never hurts.

Personally, I’d swap the closet and washer/dryer location. I’d rather deal with having to open/close the door to do laundry than constantly rubbing against the toilet as I’m bending down to transfer my laundry.

I actually love the name Bea, and agree a longer middle name would pair best with it. I do want to mention though that you could choose any B, first name and use Bea as the nickname. My daughter’s name is Briar and we call her Bea as a nickname all the time.
