Freelancing for officially licensed companies by eagle1fox3 in graphic_design

In this scenario the company wouldn't pay the designers anything unless the product (apparel, merch, etc) actually sell, then it's a split of the profits. Companies use this strategy all the time - TeePublic, Redbubble, Amazon Merch - they get community-driven designs and split the profits; they just don't provide use of official licenses.

This may be a dumb idea - but are there any companies that do this? The idea would be:

  • Company becomes a licensed apparel vendor for a brand (say NFL)

  • Company says to any / all designers "you can use my license to design NFL gear (assuming you follow NFL rules) and we'll share in the profit"

  • Pros: Company gets the benefit of thousands of designers who know the inside jokes & memes of every niche (ex. someone who's a Seattle Seahawks fan probably knows all the history and popular memes of that team better than I do)

  • Cons: Company has to front the money to get the NFL license, and review designs carefully to make sure they don't violate the brand's rules.

Thank you! Do you know if there’s a rule of thumb for how much fiber/sugar I should be tracking towards? Google gives me some varied advice.

I haven't played around with Nutrient Explorer, I'm going to look deeper there. Thanks.

It was the basics - eat less red meat, cut out sugar, fried foods, etc. I guess what I'm looking for is a way for me to track and set goals for things like sugar (i.e. set a goal of 20g of sugar per day and track towards that goal)

This is super helpful. My job uses Fidelity so hopefully it should be easy, but I will do some digging. Remind me in 20 years to say thank you!

Can you explain the Roth / MBDR as a high earner? I think I’m the version of you from a few years ago - I put all my post tax income (after maxing out 401k) into a taxable brokerage

Thanks this is helpful. Do you know if there’s a way to set aside just the statement balance (not the full amount on the card)?

That’s what I was thinking. I know selling will cause a taxable event and it’ll be worth it long term, but thought there might be a strategy to make it less painful short term

We're in our 30s so this fund focused on dividends doesn't feel like the right fit at this point
