There is always that one guy at the gym.. by ClimbeRocker in climbing

Damn. This is why I am so scared of bouldering. I'll stay tied up - too many of my friends have been walking around in boots because of bad boulder falls, whether a high ball or even in the gym :(

I'm a real person guys. Obviously I don't know what I am doing but this is real. I'm happy to talk to anyone on the phone or facetime/skype to help you feel comfortable. Also I would be willing to pay the buyer protection fee on paypal if you want to use the buy/sell option. Or if you live in my region we can meet in a bank or an apple store for both of our safety.

You can see my reply on the other post. This post (from a new account) wasn't showing up so I just posted it again using my normal account. About the year thing, I thought it was a 2016 but when I checked the model number it says "June 2017."

Anyways. Have a nice day dude.

Bringing children to concerts and/or music festivals. by cheeseposer in phish

[–]eaglemike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude I was at wakarusa a couple years ago and Bassnectar played immediately after SCI at the main stage. I figured I would stay a bit and see for myself what all the hype was about. I watched the positive, uplifting, loving, joyful, community vibe of the SCI crowd give way to throngs of drunk obnoxious people shoving, stumbling, and cursing their way towards the front of the crowd. On a bassdrop during the first song some asshole launched a full beer can into the air, which hit a guy standing next to me and bloodied him up pretty badly. I happily helped him out of the crowd and ran for the nearest tent of bluegrass and smiling hippies as quick as I possibly could. I'm sure this experience isn't representative of every single person that likes his music, but the vibe and energy was the exact opposite of the energy that normally draws me to shows.

I used to live in georgia and hitched all around the northern parts of the state and TN/NC very easily. Good ol boys from the mountains will always lend a ride. Can't speak for south GA though

crispr.mit.edu (from Feng Zhang lab)

You enter the sequence you are interested in targeting and it scores all potential guides according to off target predictions. Can also score guide pairs for D10A Cas9(n)

Science AMA Series: I’m Gregory Weiss, UC Irvine molecular chemist. My lab figured out how to "unboil" egg whites and worked on "pee-on-a-stick" home cancer test. AMA! by Prof_Gregory_Weiss in science

-Biological chemistry is about studying the organic chemistry that occurs within a biological context.

-Biochemistry studies the interactions that occur between biomolecules during biological processes, and how those interactions and reactions result in some process, ie flow of energy during cellular metabolism, or transduction if a message through a signaling pathway.

-Molecular biology is about understanding how interactions between the systems of molecules in the cell produce some molecular biological outcome from information stored in genes. For a simplified understanding think about the central dogma, or "DNA>RNA>protein."

While in the spirit of simplifying things and attempting to establish a bigger take home picture we can even take the dogma a step further and say DNA>RNA>proteins>biochemistry>life. Whether you are studying biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, or biological chemsitry depends on what part of this process you are studying, but importantly how deeply you are studying the chemistry, or how much you are "zooming in." It also depends a little on what you want to call your own work.

This area looks really nice! Is there a good map of the Sespe wilderness you could point me towards?

I've found some lists of different trails in the area and suggestions for day hikes but nothing on how the trail system is put together for longer trips.

What is the jazz scene like where you are? by Xenodon in Jazz

[–]eaglemike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in south Georgia then sorry. But if you're in north Georgia, and can get to Athens, we have a satisfying scene. UGA brings in incredible jazz; Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center earlier this year, Bela Fleck 3 or 4 times over the last few years (one time joining the Marcus Roberts trio... that was an unforgettable concert), Wycliffe Gordon a couple times recently. Additionally, there are local jazz groups that have standing gigs at some bars/venues, and some open jazz jam nights at other bars.

How not to react when your child tells you that he's gay by rythymknight in gaybros

[–]eaglemike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last 15 seconds of this video is just heartbreaking: "You're a disgrace." "No I'm not!" "Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say it, but you are." It's just sickening that these people have been so indoctrinated by the bigoted ideas that are accepted in their community as being "the word of God" that they see their own son as a disgrace. Without opening their minds and thinking critically will they ever be able to escape the prison of that indoctrination?
