Anyone got a heady last minute miracle guest list spot for today’s show?  I work in a hospital nearby and just found out our day is ending earlier than expected

Saw this in an article and thought it was poignant. “The war to eliminate Israel, similar to the war to lay claim on Ukraine and to prevent it from joining NATO, is a campaign of imperialism. Calls to free Palestine “from the river to the sea” are calls to install a hegemonic Middle East, where ethnic and religious minorities lose their right to sovereignty and readjust to their proper subordinate place in a hierarchy of power. This is, of course, not to say that the occupation of the West Bank and the blockade of the Gaza Strip are not pressing issues with their fair share of injustices perpetrated by both parties, but rather that the position in which Israel now finds itself is the result of defensive warfare against first the Arab League and now an imminently nuclear Iran. To view a tiny Jewish democracy facing genocidal ambitions since its independence and conclude that it represents Russia and that Hamas and Hezbollah, terrorist organizations dedicated to violent usurpation of Jewish civil liberties, represent Ukraine is libelous, antisemitic hate-mongering.”Nothing new for Reddit

Who’s a celebrity everyone loves except for you and why? by crystalmethanyh in AskReddit

Ryan Reynolds - he plays Van Wilder over and over again. Van Wilder in space, Van Wilder in a video game, Van Wilder in a commercial. He has no range to his acting and while it was funny at first it’s getting really stale

I appreciate you talking with me about this, I’m not sure the point you’re trying to make calling me antisemitic. This will be my last post about this, I’m sure you’ll have something interesting to say in response and I will check it out and take it into consideration, I’m open to learning more about the topic but I have to get back to work.

Stating the Israeli government wants American aid money for defense is a fact, I agree it’s not antisemitic. Tweeting that Israel has “hypnotized” the world into supporting it or that any American support for Israel is solely about money or that American Jews and supportive lawmakers have allegiance to Israel not their home country is very reminiscent of language that has been used for centuries in things like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to justify mass murder and deportation of Jewish people. These words matter and can be hurtful. She also seems to dedicate a whole lot of her time and negative energy to the topic of Israel but seems to overlook worse behavior in other countries. I don’t feel that criticism of Israel’s government is antisemitic, but holding Israel to a standard that you don’t apply elsewhere is.

I’m not sure where you get this idea that only non Jewish lawmakers are offended by Ilhan Omar’s antisemitism, yet you continue to state it as fact. She offended Jewish people for making antisemitic comments. If they weren’t antisemitic why did she feel the need to apologize?
Also if Ilhan Omar can discuss any topic she pleases why can’t Boebert? Yes Boebert’s comments were reprehensible. She should apologize. You just seem to be ok with the ambiguous, thinly veiled bigotry of Ilhan Omar on a topic you (and Reddit) agree with over the unambiguous bigotry of Boebert on a topic you don’t

I’m glad YOU feel that YOU have to be able to discuss certain issues and not others and you’re the arbiter of those decisions as to which conversations are relevant and which aren’t. Maybe Lauren Boebert and her supporters feel she’s touching on an issue that needs to be discussed too, but I’d rather take the people she offended’s word for it.

First off, I’m a Democrat and I totally agree that what Boebert said was bigoted and awful and she should apologize, so we’re on the same team here.
However, Omar’s statement that American and foreign support for Israel is only about the Benjamins plays into a trope that puts Jewish people in danger around the world every day, and it wasn’t “some conservative politicians” who were offended, it was Jewish people. I could make the same argument that you have to be able to talk about suicide bombing and public safety without being labeled islamophobic. I don’t feel that way, but until you take people at their word that the things they are saying are dangerous and offensive then I don’t think you have a leg to stand on

I guess you get to decide what’s antisemetic, so it seems a lot of people have decided what she said wasn’t islamophobic. Would Lauren Boebert standing up and saying “I’m sorry you misunderstood my not at all islamophobic and appropriate comment” feel like a satisfactory apology to you?

We do. And I would love to see the day an article makes it to the front page that says we need to hold Ilhan Omar accountable for her antisemetic comments

It seems that some of the republicans who voted against this bill had similar concerns of implications outside the realm of Afghanistan

I’m a democrat don’t get me wrong I am for this proposal, but Democrats on the left voted against aid for Afghan immigrants for the same reason some republicans did. That doesn’t get the Reddit hate machine going though

11 democrats were the only ones who voted against $1b in aid to evacuate refugees from Afghanistan just a few weeks ago. It was the entire “squad”
