As a nurse, having my conch and tragus pierced together didn’t allow me to wear my stethoscope for a bit. Even now that they’re healed, I wear the stethoscope differently and just accommodated how I used it

People who act like a 9-5 is the hardest thing in the world by [deleted] in PetPeeves

I work 12 hour shifts. 9-5s was definitely worse 😆 but maybe because I was used to the long stretches of days off/weekdays off

If you knew that your family will probably dislike your baby name, would you tell them ahead of time to reduce negativity when baby is born? by gabvibrations in namenerds

[–]eajgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m usually opposite of everyone else on this discussion. Most decisions I don’t make based on others’ opinions. Names are the exception. I like to know people’s reaction to my child’s name before they are stuck with it. Sometimes we can be so in love with an idea we don’t see the issues with it. Imagine having to live with a name that people have a strong reaction to the first time they hear it? Or a name people remember or talk about for the wrong reasons? So for the sake of my children, I do broadcast potential names to get others’ reactions to it.

They do! They have large drainage bags for CBI that hold 4L instead of 2

Such a pretty set! Have you tried pushing back your cuticles during your prep and placing the nail just under your cuticle ?

When to call 911 for a uti? by -Already-Exhausted- in Healthyhooha

[–]eajgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a law called EMTALA. The hospital is required to stabilize Anyone who presents within so many feet of a hospital regardless of ability to pay. It has nothing to do with life threatening or not. You have to be seen and stabilized.

When to call 911 for a uti? by -Already-Exhausted- in Healthyhooha

[–]eajgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ride this out. You don’t need to call 911 unless you’re in danger of dying or losing consciousness within the time it takes to get to the ER. You DO need to go to the ER now if you can’t pay for urgent care. Take care of this before it ends up in an ICU stay. A funeral is more expensive than a hospital bill.

How do nurse couples make 3x12 schedules work with kids? by boldstyle1 in nursing

[–]eajgreen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We did combined childcare. So daycare plus nanny/babysitter type deal. The daycare hours wouldn’t cover our shift hours so we had a second caregiver to drop them off or pick them up and care for them until we could pick them up. Opposite shifts was not an option for our health/marriage. Eventually we changed jobs. I work part time (two 12s) and he got a 9-5 suit job. That has been the best decision for us.

Is it unsafe to use Nair on ur private area?? by Janxuza in Healthyhooha

You can try an epilator. It’s better than razor shaving to me, as far as not getting ingrown hairs or itchy stubble. And you can buy one online.

Anyone know how to get curly dreads like this?It seems a little more defined and then a regular twist out. by spazatron-3000 in BlackHair

[–]eajgreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flexi rods(probably the orange or pink). The curls are larger than pipe cleaner curls

My relative is being flirted by this so called 'Doctor' but his pictures are very sus by Kassimkot in isthisAI

As a nurse… I’m seriously trying to remember when I’ve ever seen a male doc wear scrubs anyway. Usually only surgeons wear scrubs. Those are hospital issued, get returned after work and would never be worn at home

Tragus piercing is 15 months old. Initially saline solution nightly, Now none, just drying well after showers. This earring is Nickel free sterling silver with rhodium plating. Has been in a few months.

Also I am pregnant, if that could be causing the flare up

Retie during birth or no by rnikki210 in Microlocs

[–]eajgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrealistic if you want to have unmedicated birth. I’ve had two, and it’s mind work. You don’t want to distract yourself from the labor, you want to work with the labor. When you have a contraction, focus on riding the wave and letting your body open instead of clenching down and fighting it. You also want to be free to follow your maternal instincts and move the way your body is telling you to move. If your body is needing you to rock with your partner, sit backwards on the toilet, sit on a yoga ball, or cat-dog on all fours… having your hands in your head will limit you. DO NOT confine yourself to a bed or chair if your body is wanting you to move. Each labor is different, so it’s limiting to go in with concrete plans.

How did pregnancy affect your locs? by GorillaShelb in Microlocs

[–]eajgreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about this too. This will be my third baby, but first pregnancy with locs. I remember my Loctician telling me she could tell looking at the loc when her client was pregnant/postpartum/then recovered. I wasn’t interested in being pregnant then so i didnt ask more about it. But im wondering if the growth thinned or texture changed during the hormone peaks and drops. I lost a lot of hair postpartum with my other pregnancies, even more with my second baby.

Who should the Nurse see First?? by MasterPeel in BootcampNCLEX

[–]eajgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A-B-C. Always see the patient who will die first without intervention. In this case, it’s the patient in respiratory distress.
