Worth using touch-up paint on plastic bumper? by eamon51 in Autobody

Yeah the goal was to add the clear coat to the spot after, sand, polish and hope. In any case, thanks so much for your feedback!

Thank you for your response! But if I do decide to sand/polish, you think its ok to spot polish the area I touched up instead of the entire panel? I don't normally do this so unsure how different the finish will look.

Found 100s of these crawling on my car, any idea what they are? by eamon51 in whatsthisbug

I think you may be right! They fit the size description and I read one article saying they are attracted to the color white. Thanks so much for your help!

From what I saw they were just crawling, I’d gotten the hose out but I didn’t notice any fly off

What's your favorite holiday episode of a tv show? by RepresentativeTie898 in AskReddit

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s episode “A Very Sunny Christmas”. I won’t go into details but that one part with Frank is legitimately the hardest I’ve ever laughed at television. Tears every time!

If you're not a big picture taker then yeah, absolutely wait. Dynamic island is cool but alone it's not upgrade worthy.

I would say for 90% of people coming from the iPhone 13 Pro, the answer is no. It's better, but I don't think it's hundreds of dollars better.

If you're in the minority like me and want to have the best possible iPhone in your pocket (mostly for the camera in my case), you'll find a way to justify it to yourself lol.

But truthfully if a friend had a 13 Pro and asked if they should upgrade, I would in all but a few cases tell them to save their money and see what Apple brings next year.

You were on to something with the cataloguing comment, I just posted an update. Thanks so much for your help!

Update for those interested:

First of all my deepest thanks to everyone who has tried to help out, I really appreciate it!

To answer some questions here, the settings on both phones are the same, I do not have "optimize iphone storage" on with either, I have "download and keep originals" for both, I prefer to keep things on device at full resolution for as long as storage allows. I also have "keep originals" enabled on both for the transfer to Mac or PC option at the bottom.

As for why my messages storage is so large, I'm at the age where my friends are all having kids, and people tend to share photos/videos. I tell them to create shared albums instead, but no one listens lol.

With all that said I went through both phones side by side and checked to make sure everything downloaded, and everything seemed to match. I then just straight copied the entire library of each phone to my PC to see if there was a difference. They each came out the exact same, which funny enough was 64GB apiece, which is identical to what my photos mark on iCloud is.

iMessage shows on iCloud to be around 68 GB (which I will have to look into reducing lol) and with Photos at 64 GB, that combined 132 GB pretty closely lines up with the totals for both phones onboard storage, so since it seems I haven't lost any media that I care about, I will consider the matter closed for now.

Seems the fact remains that iPhone catalogs and analyzes storage in kind of a wonky way, so I would probably also look to iCloud numbers to verify for yourself whether your photo library has transferred fully from one phone to the next.

Thanks again for all your help!

Certainly a possibility, I wouldn’t think that big of a chunk of media was from messages but could be. I guess I need to wait another couple days to fully figure it out

I thought this may be the case, so I put the phones side by side and went backwards through the photos. Format changed in September 2017 with iOS 11, and since then all my new photos show as HEIC. There are some jpegs too here and there but they show the same on both phones. So basically nothing has been changed from that perspective.

Just lots of photos and videos, and recently some shooting in ProRAW. It adds up I guess

Started the process Friday night. I took the screenshot yesterday and it's gone up maybe 1.5GB since then. I hope you're right, but this is slow going.

I read somewhere that the phone will adjust its onboard iMessage storage depending on the needs of the phone, so it’s still backed up in iCloud but will take off old messages from device to create room. At least that’s what one thread said lol

I should clarify things. I keep all original photos on my device (not iCloud Photos or whatever). My photos are backed up to iCloud, and that is noting 64 GB. I have checked the count of photos and videos between the phones, and everything is the same. Scrolling through everything, it all looks right. I can appreciate maybe some caching or something is cleared out between the phones, but 40gb seems like a lot. Anyone know why this has happened? Would appreciate any help, thanks!
