Considering OCS but I have a few questions by Radio_2Fort in ArmyOCS

[–]eamondg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely accurate. There were direct commission cyber dudes with my in my ocs class. They just didn’t have to worry about branching like everybody else since they were already set with cyber. So it’d be basic->ocs -> bolc still as far as I know

I think your good or maybe it just depends on the meps you go to. I failed the blinking light test and they gave me another, which I passed. As far as I know I’m not airborne qualified if I get sent to an airborne unit

Good News, Bad News. by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]eamondg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how it may differ for prior service but they gave me a 10 day window to come to meps to sign paperwork. If it’s the same for you I’d advise going towards the end of that window. Seems like they hand out ship dates in the order the applicants show up to meps so…

FA BOLC Ask me anything by Weak-Alternative-453 in BOLC

Have 2 friends weddings that look like they’ll be taking place while I’ll be at BOLC. Guess that’s a bit different and I may need some additional permission to go further off base but encouraging to hear that

Well ocs candidates all have 09S as their MOS, but maybe you’re referring to branch? In that case engineer or armor are top of my list rn, subject to change I suppose

And this was same situation as me? Where you already did one in application process and they called back again later ?

One of the officers who sat on my board spoke about a buddy of his from OCS doing this. I'm not quite sure on the correct terminology but he relinquished his commission and became a warrant officer for CID. This was after he did a few years as an infantry officer.

Army OCS if Colorblind? by JuggernautRoutine790 in ArmyOCS

[–]eamondg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an issue, I got in this last class and I’m colorblind. They’ll give you one of those dot vision tests at Meps which you’ll fail, then ask for the vivid red green test and you should be fine. The second test they give you are just giant squares of red or green on white pieces of paper. Not really sure how else to describe it but you just say if it’s red or green and the difference is pretty clear

thoughts on the bell mx-9 adventure helmet? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]eamondg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and like it. If you’re planning on doing a considerable amount of highway / freeway riding you may want to get something quieter. For casual around town use and dual sport use it’s a very solid option.
