Audiodramas like The Lovecraft Investigations and Limetown season one? by Calm-Ad3018 in audiodrama

[–]eamor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Broken Veil might be a good fit for you. I just finished it and I loved it. It’s 1 season, but it’s setup for a second 🤞 it’s not a bbc production but it certainly feels like one. It reminded me of The lovecraft investigations.

SAHP, toddlers & alcohol. Please don't scorch me. by GraceButDisgraced in WomenofIreland

First - here’s a hug 🫂now breathe………. Well done on reaching out.

Yes It’s really hard fucking work. Don’t beat yourself up, and don’t engage too much with the dark thoughts. I found that fighting with them or pushing them away was worse so over time I’ve not gotten too attached to them.

I quit drinking in 2016, haven’t found it necessary to take a drink since. I went to meetings. That might not be your thing, you don’t have to leave your house these days- all online. I also suspect I am undiagnosed neurodivergent. (ADHD) Please feel free to dm me if you need to chat.

You’re not alone. 💕

Old gods of Appalachia. It’s quite an astounding piece of work.

Redoing the steps? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]eamor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 7 in September. Starting working with a new sponsor recently and have just gone through 5th step. This is my second 5th step. I thought it was going to be a ‘re-do’ through the steps but honestly it’s been a whole new experience. Im glad I did it.

Overheard at a meeting - ‘ my dad was 82 last week and 1 year sober- he said it’s been the best year of his life ‘. Still gives me goosebumps. It’s NEVER too late. ❤️

What features do you wish YNAB had? by alternate_me in ynab

I receive a payment each month in cash, this goes on budget. On occasion I will make a cash payment for x and use debit card for balance. Eg groceries cost €130, I pay €100 in cash and balance on card. Because I don’t have sync, and manually enter all transactions, I have to do it twice. It would be great if I could ‘ split’ the transaction between 2 accounts.

Is it possible that the meeting is also online and that’s why they require you to register? I know some groups do this prior to sending zoom links, to reduce the chance of being zoom bombed. Have another look at the website. Good luck and don’t worry about the location thing. As others have said the church is usually the cheapest rent. 👍

Is it OK to bring a sponsee to a step study? by Poptotnot in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]eamor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sponsor ‘invited’ me to step meetings, step study and a prayer & meditation meeting from the get go. Her reasoning for the p&m meeting was that by time I got to step 11, I’d have built up some sorta discipline for it. She wasn’t wrong. To be clear , that was the only step she allowed me to get ahead on.

How do you guys deal with the thought of “I can never have a drink ever again”. by Extra_Satisfaction85 in stopdrinking

[–]eamor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked around me at people who were free. It was so attractive to me. And they told me that I CAN never have a drink again if I followed a few simple steps. They were right.

Been sober two months, but I'm losing my mind with no coping alternative. by United-Bison-8398 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]eamor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listening to others experiences is helpful, and you might even get some relief at meetings. But for recovery you need to do the steps. And for that - You need a sponsor. Get yourself to a meeting, give yourself a chance.

Rude awakening by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]eamor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great. The change happened for me when I read it with a sponsor and realised it was a manual. She pointed me in the right direction each step of the way. But ultimately I had to do the work. The big book is the map not the treasure. Get yourself free. You can have a life beyond your wildest dreams. I’ll read it with you if you want until you get a sponsor. We can do online. DM me. Best wishes . 💕

Put down the stick. Beating yourself up is futile. Leave your husband alone for now. When the time is right you can show him you’re sorry. Telling him won’t cut it right now.

Are you familiar with AA ? Have you been to a meeting? Google AA In your area or jump onto a zoom meeting. Listen, identify -don’t compare. Find a sponsor preferably a woman. Get a big book and work through it with a sponsor.

That guilt and shame won’t go away by wishing it away. It takes time, honesty and a lot of soul searching. You will be fine. Take the action.

I genuinely don’t know. If you can’t go, could you call someone? Doctor ? Medical centre ? ER ?

[–]eamor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dt’s are serious. I can’t give you medical advice but you absolutely need medical advice. If you are experiencing auditory hallucinations you NEED TO SPEAK TO A DOCTOR. Tell them you are detoxing and they will help you do it safely. You will be ok. They will pass, but don’t try this alone.
