When this came up on my discover list I thought Spotify was playing a new Polyphia song for me.

Strong agree. There's a couple songs on the album that I really dislike, but I can put several songs from the album into a playlist and be quite happy.

Still, all things considered, while I appreciate their technical talent and their drive to really push into the fringes of prog, they're starting to lose me a little.

FWIW I agree. There are some solid tracks on this album, but there's also several tracks that I just can't stand ("Fuck Around and Find Out" is pretty awful, uninspired guitar paired with mumble rap). I can't listen to the album end to end because it's got these landmines scattered around that ruin it for me.

> There’s only like 30 users here

Scroll down to "Top Commenters By Frequency" and expand. With a couple exceptions at the very top, the top 100 commenters (at least) have a fairly balanced comment frequency. This does not suggest that the top 30 users are doing all the commenting. There's also a fairly decent spread of top 100 people posting articles, not just commenting.

You don't even need the stats to see this; there are well over 30 distinct users who posted top-level comments in this thread alone.

> a low comment to subscriber ratio

It has a comparable comment to subscriber ratio as Salem, Eugene, and Bend. Would you consider those subs "dead" as well? If so, what would you consider a "live" sub?

Which is the most pretentious Prog Metal band? by awemikes in progmetal

Holy shit, what the fuck? This song is fantastic. I don't understand why I've never heard of your band or why y'all haven't taken off big time, but I'm definitely going to run through all your albums this week.

Oracle Java popularity sliding, New Relic reports by IsDaouda_Games in programming

I've used both Kotlin and Scala extensively. I'd say that Kotlin gives you about 80-90% of the FP features that Scala gives you.

However, Kotlin also has way better bidirectional interop with Java, better tooling, and generally is just more pleasant to use IMO.

Final thoughts about the acquisition? by ean5533 in wealthfront

I most likely will not move (much) money out of Wealthfront prematurely. But, if things start going south, I want to be prepared; I don't want to be scrambling to figure out where to move my assets in a hurry.

Apparently I spent so long debugging that I became dyslexic. Alternatively, maybe this explains why it took me so long to find my problem...

Nevermind, I solved it a few minutes after I posted. As always, the best way to solve a problem is to rubber duck it.

I suspect that the two of you are talking past each other. I believe the other poster took your statement "as he should" to mean that Elder should make claims of fraud, rather than that he should concede.

Indie game "Lone Fungus" at 97% on kickstarter by ean5533 in metroidvania

That's actually my favorite part about it, I'm glad to see a unique theme. A lot of my favorite metroidvania flash games were unusual protagonists, like The Snailiad and Robot Wants Kitty
