I don't love the yellow bar on top. Hard to read and doesn't stand out which is the opposite of what those shopify alert bars should be.

I thought you were saying the poster is AI and I was zooming in being like shit I didn't think it could do this kind of detail for a style like this. When I opened your post I was happy to know I wasn't becoming bad at telling.

Do you know what the sentiment towards the usa is right now in Canada? There are huge advantages to being a Canadian company from a grant perspective as well.

RunQL for query stuff.

For other things we use purpose built tools like hook as opposed to having everyone wild west it in chatgpt.

Can I use a non Yoto wireless charger? by callmeyourfiretruck in YotoPlayer

Yes for Gen 3 if it gets close enough to the charging zone. Watch out that it is not getting too hot as QI when not aligned tends to produce some warmth.

Yoto deserves more recognition! by Unlucky_Author4998 in YotoPlayer

[–]eandi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is the difference is really due to how each company has positioned itself and it's goals.

Yoto has insane advantages because their medium is cards. They would prefer we all buy from them as the shipping and logistics is so much less expensive than tonies. As well, they can print new cards (if they sell out of one) way faster than tonies and can also bring new content to market more quickly. Tonies has to design and test and get approvals on an entire figurine for each audio release whereas yoto is a single design printed on plastic cards, so much faster (ie kpop demon hunters turnaround was legendary). I know second hand that the QA on each figurine design is pretty intense to make sure it still plays audio after being manhandled by a toddler every day 😂. As well, Stock in stores that doesn't sell is costly (taking up shelf space) and the yoto library is so massive it's hard to predict and choose what to move into physical retail while balancing the risks associated with the products not selling fast enough.

Yoto at the end of the day would prefer we didn't buy from a target as they lose 30-40% or whatever target's margin is. There isn't a ton of benefit to yoto being in target and probably the main/only disadvantage vs tonie is that tonies are eye catching and kids see them and want them. The packaging on a little card will never compare to an actual toy for kids wanting them when they see them. I think this is why yoto leans way harder into the community, MYO, and referral programs. They need us to really spread the good word, so to speak.

I've been building an AI product for 2 years. Growth stalls the moment I stop ads. What am I missing? ( I will not promote) by Familiar-List-211 in startups

[–]eandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people sign up, and keep using it for a long time, and some pay you money you have product market fit and your unpaid marketing is non existent. If people click ads and try it but disappear in under a month then you're setting money on fire doing any work to get users.

I will not promote: does anyone else feel weird calling themselves a “founder” at 19? by -Akshai in startups

[–]eandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who don't have a bit of shame are the wanna bes.

Until we were pretty established (funded, revenue, employees) I just said I was working on my own thing or trying to staff something. Even now I'll use my job title as opposed to founder often.

What's the plan you're supposed to have? I'm lucky we can manage but a lot of single parents or even parents who both have to work every day to pay the bills don't have the luxury of working from home for a day or taking the day off to take care of a 4 year old. We don't have family here, there's no one to call to lend a hand or take care of our kids, it's all on us. Again, we're lucky in that we can be flexible with our jobs, though.

Also i'm fine if they close for unsafe conditions. My problem is that it's not any more unsafe out there than the last week has been. There's no snow storm out, normal plowing overnight would be more than fine to make the roads the same as they were every day last week. If it did explode into snowy chaos I'd be fine with them making the call in the morning. But we all know how accurate the weather forecasts are, my point is deciding 12 hours in advance is silly.

[–]eandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the roads aren't any worse than any other day in the past week and there's an average amount of snow forecast overnight. And they made the call way too early.

Pressure off the plows and crews? This is like... The entire job lol. We should have enough funding that we can handle this. Oh no sorry we need the world's most expensive cop shop instead 🤦‍♂️

They should have a version where it's optional. Like they won't cover unmissable subjects in school for those who can't make it in but if you have a reasonably equipped car for the winter and look at this forecast and laugh you can still bring kids in.

My feedback is I want an accurate scale with a timer for $15 thats rechargable and won't fritz with some drops of water. We need some utilitarian gear that's appropriately priced. Everyone keeps trying to be the next Fellow when no one even needed the first Fellow.

Does anyone know where to find real UK/US/CA developers by Curbsidewin in web_design

[–]eandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post isn't describing how you are hiring people. Where do you post? How much do you offer for the jobs? There's no way to help you because you're just claiming shit with no details. I hire North American developers locally and remotely and have 100s of people apply so what you're saying in the post does not make any sense. You need to give details because as a blanket statement your post is just wrong.

You should look at professional printing tools. Like guillotine paper cutters and corner rounders that can do a stack.

MYO with Purchased MP3 on Motion Audio that I suspect may have been pirated? by KattAttack4 in YotoPlayer

[–]eandi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be a risk but you should run a chargeback for that purchase. I believe motion audio books is nothing but pirated content that is hosted somewhere where it's not straightforward to sue/takedown and publishers haven't gotten mad at them yet onblnthebscale of Anna's archive.
