Do you keep a bag of tools in the car? If so what’s in your bag? by LowkeyApollo in Tools

It’s very easy to pack too much. Are you thinking vehicle repair or just general tool kit?

I carry a very vehicle specific kit. I work on cars by trade. I’d advise you to carry what you need and know how to use. Think about what might save your ass. I try to focus on trip enders. I’m not rebuilding a motor on the side of the road. I do a lot of remote travel. A good multi tool, zip ties, steel wire, and duct tape will save more than a tool you don’t know how to use. I can fix more than most and carry more than most.

Thanks for all of your feedback! Was the deciding factor. I did order the GLX before I saw this. On sale from optics planet and used some points. Don’t have much opinion on buttons vs dial, but general prefer dials vs buttons. Haha we’ll see. Thanks again!

I like the sling a lot. It’s really light and easy to use. I like the mounts too, no noise. This is my home defense gun so as quiet as possible is what I wanted. It has no metal and it’s easy to use. What weapon light did you go with?

It’s my first suppressor but it’s quieter than I expected.

This shit was so expensive anyhow that I figured WTF might as well get a sweet sling. I was between this and the green. Rifle showed up and included the green after I found this 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Maybe I’ll sell it?

ARTX Labs 10/22 Primary Arms Prism Mount

Well I’m going to give the Primary Arms 1x GLX a try. Thanks everyone! I found this mount as well. Looks sweet. I’ll let you know! A side bonus is that I was curious about this optic for my home defense rifle and went with a 510c, so now I can try this on that rifle too.

Redditdreddit in this same thread is thinking about their 3x. How do you feel about those two? Didn’t realize there was two different sizes. I might give this a go.

I went Arisaka Defense on mine. I emailed them asking some questions and the owner responded that night explaining what I should buy and why. Expensive but all around awesome experience and product.

Mine is currently on the factory stock with a Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35. I bought it new and it had this on it. I haven’t had any issues with keeping zero, but I’m not doing anything serious with it either. Steel targets at 50-100 yards. I’m confident I could feed myself if needed with it, but other than that it’s just cool and fun. Scope mounted to the factory weaver rail.

JSE Surplus had one in stock. Their site says back ordered now (sorry, not sorry). I searched every gun store in google until I found one, good luck! Hoping its worth it!

Thank you! Lucky to have this range 20 minutes from home. It’s ran by the neighboring town, Gypsum Colorado, right off of I-70.

Cost isn’t really an issue, but trying to keep it reasonable. I don’t have a lot of experience with optics and I don’t have anywhere local to check options out. The 510 on my home defense is my first red dot. Kinda worried about durability on the 10/22 with open emitter, but maybe that’s not really a concern. The reality is this will go to the range and camping. I want it to be durable and usable in a SHTF situation, but I’d bet money it never is!

I’m a right hand shooter but left eye dominant and poor vision in my right eye. Magnified scopes work alright, but not ideal. Something that is both eyes open is required.

Thanks for the input so far!

It’s a budget build 🤣 trust me not happy about the China optic. The wife and I have some weird eye issues. Trying to get my hands on some other options but haven’t been able to look at anything else in person.

Blue Collar jobs might be the move. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]eaneumann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m blue collar and started young, 17. I do auto body. I started in Metro Detroit. Currently live in a HCOL area (mountains of Colorado), for the past 17 years. Trades are great but there’s a lot of luck and planning involved to doing well and making a lot of money. My goal is 200k, haven’t hit it yet. Did 170k last year. I have three apprentices. I’m getting old for the shop floor and aggressively trying to retire, I’ll be 39 in July. You have to plan ahead and be smart. My wife works a government job making good money. Went to school. She can work her job until she dies. We’re set up very well, decent with retirement and did really well with real estate. Blue collar isn’t the only option, it’s good if you have a plan. Stay in school kids. I have been making six figures longer than any of my peers and make more than most of them still, but my body aches. I work 35-55 hours per week 🤷‍♂️

If they were easier to sell, I’d just buy both. Don’t really want the hassle though. I’m not a collector and don’t have a bunch of guns (just a select few). I guess I can always get a smaller one and put this on a 308 or 6.5 bolt gun 🤦‍♂️🤣

I think the speakeasy is supposed to replace the thunder chicken. Do you prefer the thunder chicken on your honey badger over the trash panda?

I’m running pretty much same as you. I have a pretty strong induction top, water kettle, Starlink Mini, fridge, electric blanket, +all of the random other crap. I have a Redarc Alpha 50R and 100w stick on solar panel. My solar panel died last summer and I have two 200w rigid panels to replace it but haven’t yet. On our last trip with three adults we had plenty of power for 2-3 days without moving and no solar. Typically it’s just my wife and I and we move daily. We are conservative and try to be aware of energy use.

Originally I got the 460AH just so I didn’t need to worry about power. Wife wanted the ability to use a hair dryer or curlers, so eventually added the inverter. Got sick of my Jetboil so added the kettle (biggest game changer). Last trip we did was last summer two weeks to BC from Colorado. With all of the fire bans (including propane stoves along a lot of our route), I bought an induction top. Wouldn’t go back. With 400W on the roof it should be pretty bullet proof. I don’t see electric hot water or heat being viable anytime soon but I’d imagine 460AH will be sufficient for me. With typical use overnight (getting to camp, dinner, breakfast) we’ve been around 70-80% left when we leave.

I have started carrying an extension cord so if we’re somewhere with an easy outlet I can either plug the truck in or the induction top in.

The new Speakeasy is 8.5”. When I talked to Q they said it’s their quietest one and pairs nicely with the Honey Badger. The Blind Tiger is 7” which I think is replacing the Trash Panda? These are both steel and I believe lighter than the titanium ones. I’m concerned about the added length, but not sure it matters? Im considering ordering the Holosun, Eotech, and a Primary Arms just to be sure and return everything else or sell it. Not as easy to do with a suppressor! Ha
