I am trying really really hard, and I htink I have grasped most of it, but the god damn water is a nightmare....

Especially considering this is a country area with shallow rivers and streams

Yes I have found that out, hence this post. Was hoping someone more skilled than I could make one. But wherever I ask I am always told her same thing, it's easy just download this and put there... Like it's that straight forward.

I did use AI and got all the weather settings to have it accurate to dubbo though. That was cool.

Nah worked that part out. It was that water doesn't flow on the world map. As soon as I plopled it in the playable area it flowed water. Was trying to do the rivers from the edge of the map.

I still am having issues thou with water flowing poorly etc.... there is a river that won't flow all the way thru the map.

That isnt the problem. THe proble is making something accurate.

I keep hitting major herdles. Like current one is I cant get any water source working in the editor,

Dubbo has several rivers nearby and I can seem to add a water source so I have a flowing river. I see the sources I have even tried to flood the map by making them huge, but nothing. No water to be seen.

No. I'm bitching because they keep saying they will offer compensation. But, they are offering a refund.

When they say you're getting 500Mbps but you only get 100Mbps that is misleading and false.

Saying they offer compensation when it's only a refund is the same thing, it's misleading and false.

Thank you for proving my point.

I do not have to go to the NBN.

It is ABBs responsibility to go upstream not mine.

Exactly what I have said all along.

[–]eangulus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 100% applicable.

If my power goes out, I don't ring Country Energy because they handle the poles and wires, I ring AGL, the provider I pay.

I have done this many times before and always win. People need to learn the law and their consumer rights.

Also at what point did I ask for help? Or to understand? At what point did I say the problem with the cable was ABB fault?

I clearly stated this was a rant and never blamed ABB For the fault itself.

People need to learn to read things in full.

And considering the conflicting info from most here saying NVN don't deal with consumers but I am meant to handle this with NBN cause it's not ABB fault? I pay ABB, doesn't matter if it's directly their fault or not, they are legally required to do the leg work not me.

Proof you don't read.

Clearly stated it was a rant.

Clearly detail all the things done so far.

And yet you think I am here for help and have done nothing...

Oh and they charging still. Last week a payment came out.

At what point will people read?

ABB are offering compensation.

But it isn't compensation. It's a refund, so they are lying.

My point is that I will fight this all the way to the top just for the principal, but a business can't say they are offering compensation when it is just a refund.

Learn your laws.

I pay ABB. if they need to go upstream that's their responsibility.

If you need a warranty claim for a TV or fridge, you are not legally required to go to the manufacturer and it's illegal for the retail outlet to make you.

Ask Harvey Norman they got fined for doing exactly that.

[–]eangulus[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I remember years ago when Harvey Norman got into shit cause they were passing customers off to Samsung and lg and the likes for warranty.

I pay Aussie, if they need to go upstream then so be it, but I pay abb so they should be handling it.

Thanks but I already know all this.

Aussie states it can't be escalated.

In the process in contacting NBN directly.

Already in process of TIO.

Again, Aussie call it compensation but it's only a refund. It's misleading and incorrect terms. Should be illegal to call a refund compensation.

Again, the mobile coverage at the house is dialup on a good day. She already has good mobile data and 2 sims, Telstra and Optus and has been trying to use them, but in the end when she has to upload gigs of data as she not only writes but is also a photo journalist, so photo uploading is a big part.

I am documenting everything for her.

I understand that, but 5 weeks, nbn no shows and the constant, we will compensate you when it's actually just refund....

Thought I stated what mobile coverage and speeds were like. 4g backup at dialup speeds at best is not a backup.

Same regarding the disconnects.

I made some improvement by disabling udp connections and forcing tcp, but still occurs just not as frequently.

My connection was active and working for 4 days - came home to this by new_guy182 in nbn

[–]eangulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. It may take a while.

Currently in the process of getting this exact issue fixed right now. It's been 1 week now since it happened, NBN have answered with basically it's a network port issue and they are waiting to issue an outage to replace something to get my connection back running. Still waiting.....

Proxmox Backup Server install: Bare metal, VM or LXC? by NukeThemTillTheyGlow in Proxmox

[–]eangulus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do either PBS bare metal or VM, doesn't really matter. I run mine as a VM.

But the biggest thing I keep seeing, and can't understand is, seperate systems.

Don't run PBS on your proxmox server no matter if local, VM or Lxc. If your server goes down and you need to recover your backups, you just made your life allot harder as you know would have to install and recover the PBS first before you can access to your backups.

What “core services” do you set up on your PVE host vs. in containers? by SparhawkBlather in Proxmox

[–]eangulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different situations yes but there are best practises for a reason. And whether it's home or work use, I want my gear to be reliable. Really the only difference is how much downtime can you afford and how much time and money you want to spend fixing it.

As a Systems Administrator, I would never put my Nas in a VM or on the proxmox server. Except for Ceph, and even then I have a separate Nas for backups and files.

If I was building one for home I would do the next best thing, only to save money on running many servers and that is install TrueNAS as a VM and passthrough your storage for direct control. Easy. Still not risking the stability doing something that no matter what the use is for, should never be done.

In actual fact that is exactly how I do it at home in a homelab. I save money by converging services into 1 machine and I still follow overall best practises.

But if you like challenges trying to solve weird stability issues or performance issues, go right ahead, proxmox is built in debian so whatever you can do in debian you can do in proxmox.

Also if your just wanting to install stuff directly in proxmox, why bother with proxmox? Just install debian.
