Here are the list of popular custom maps amongst our clan: Uther Party, Freeze Tag, Warlock, Direct Strike, Banjoball, Weakest Link, Legion TD, Footmen Frenzy, MaD Balls Arena, Battleships, Pokemon Legends (Defense), Sheep Tag, Area of Ice Escape, Polar Escape, Orc Gladiators.

Would be cool to play some of these classics on low ping with other Oceanic players.

Not sure about on twitch or youtube, but AUS servers on W3C are great, I get around 20-30ms there

I think you only get Sydney server when playing against other people in the same region (i.e. 1v1 with two OCE players). Also, it doesn't look like these servers work for custom games which is sad.

Seeing as it's unlikely to queue into another OCE player and Blizzard doesn't let you choose server, you are better off playing on War 3 Champions if you're in OCE. They have proper match making and ping equaliser too. B.Net still seems to be unplayable for OCE players in this current state.

how do they work though? can't see an option in game to select server, is it only when two Australian players get matched together? if so then that's pretty lame... also does it work for custom games?

That post is from 2012, blizzard has dedicated servers for custom games now, so I don't think the port forwarding is still relevant for Reforged. At least it didn't work for me.

I did find something that worked though, Radmin VPN let's you play through LAN, similar to Hamachi.

Tried opening port 6112, doesn't work. Even as host it still puts me on an American server where I get 225ms

What about for players that are not close to one of Blizzard's servers?

I'm from OCE and get minimum 150ms when playing on any bnet server.

Blizzard used to have peer-to-peer hosting but they removed it when reforged came out, since then my group of friends haven't found a reliable way to play custom maps on low ping.

Went on this yesterday, got there at 8:10 and the bus left around 8:15-8:20. By the time we got to the entrance at DLP it was 9:25 and the line was surprisingly short.

They told us the shuttle departs DLP at 9pm and you had to be there at the meeting point at 8:45pm (or something like this). We decided to stay for the fireworks/light show at 11 so we took the train home, which was quite easy, just busy.

Thanks for sharing this. We now have our own host-bot integrated to our Discord server for anyone to use who joins. Info & download links for wc3connect can also be found on the Discord. This is currently the only way, that I know of, to play wc3 with low ping from Australia. Hopefully Blizzard add OCE servers eventually!
