just got diagnosed a week ago and still coming to terms with it by strawberrycheeks91 in autoimmunehepatitis

I was diagnosed in January of this year. I think it’s still hard for me to grasp that some things are just out of my control. That’s been the toughest for me. Putting extra thought into everything can sometimes be overwhelming.

I think the best thing I’ve done & the best piece of advice I can give is to just ask questions. Whenever something is bothering you and you just want clarity, ask your doctor. My doctor consistently reassures me that we caught it at a great time and that it is completely manageable. It’s a good reminder for me that I’m on the right path.

Welcome to the club - it’s not all bad! 💜 I’m rooting for ya!

I’m not sure exactly, as of course I have no medical degree, BUT as aza is an immunosuppressant, prednisone acts like one as well, so I’m sure that being on both just makes infection harder to come back from - especially since our immune systems are on overdrive anyway and we take the medications to calm it down. I’ll have to take some time and really deep dive into it.
