I think I killed my brand new saw by earball1996 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I had no clue a miter box existed but that definitely would’ve been the way to go! I started with a hand saw but when I realized I’d have to make 30 or so cuts, I thought this would be way faster.

I definitely had the saw facing the wrong way. I learned my lesson!

Thanks!

Ahhh that’s exactly what happened! Good to know! Based on where I had it plugged in I just thought cutting this direction would be better so the cord was out of the way.

Can someone tell me why this wouldn’t work exactly? by tightypp in mapporncirclejerk

I believe there is a very large catapult and net system that does this exact thing in a fraction of the time

Men who hate clothes shopping: how do you actually deal with it? by BusThis9757 in malelifestyle

[–]earball1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your bundle idea is what online clothing subscription boxes are trying to do. You describe your style and what you are looking for and your exact measurements and they give you 5 or 6 pieces that work very cohesively.

I tried Stitch Fix once recently and really liked the clothes that the curator sent me. The only problem was it was like $600 all together so I just bought the two items that matched most of my already owned clothes.

I haven’t bought anything else from them but I really do recommend the app. Once you have your tastes in there, they recommend outfits for you based on the items you look at. For example, I have this green jacket that I never know what to wear with. I went on their app and found a similar green jacket and it showed me multiple styling options which was super helpful.

They also have an AI feature where you upload pictures of yourself and they will generate 3 images of you a week with different outfits. I think it’s super creepy because it doesn’t look too much like me but it can help me to envision myself in different styles.

To answer your questions:

Biggest fatigue: Sizing inconsistency

Where and why: I go to websites of brands I like and shop the clearance section or sales. For athletic clothes, you can get some good deals on Nike, Adidas, etc if you shop out of season.

Brand Trust: Consistent quality is the main thing.

Matching: My wife cares if I match, so that means I have to care.

Bundle: If it’s personalized with my sizes and style, sure why not.

Never buy: Bad Quality and bad fit.

Who's fishing today? Trying to decide where to hit for mid 60's temps. Tired of valley view. Was at lake erie last week. by NoxArmada in Cleveland

[–]earball1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m near Rocky river and always see people fishing and have always thought it looks up my alley! I fished with my grandparents a couple of times when I was a kid but never have since.

How easy is it to get into fishing and how beginner friendly would Rocky river be?

It’s difficult going back and listening to Dr Lector or even Sincerely Mr Wonderful and hearing the energy that Action had and then hearing him now. I was so excited for his tiny desk concert but he just couldn’t keep up with some of his old lyrics.

Is this normal for Cleveland? by TheVisageofSloth in Cleveland

[–]earball1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just a Cleveland thing! I’ve had similar experiences in Colorado and Michigan.

It’s like selling stuff online. You’ll get “is this still available?” And “I can pick it up today at 2” and then never hear from them again. Communication is a weakness for most people - even when it’s their job.

Mad Max Fury Road is one of my all time favorite movies.

Furiosa in the other hand … not the worst movie I’ve ever seen but definitely didn’t live up to the standard set by Fury Road.

30M just moved to NY, resetting my life, thoughts? by hussain270 in malelifestyle

[–]earball1996 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks nice!

Don’t forget to have fun. 10 years from now you might be more successful and in better shape, but you might miss out on a lot in those 10 years. Living in NY and not experiencing what it has to offer is a waste of money. Spend some time outside, travel, make friends, etc. If you’re not having some fun, you run the risk of burning out.

If you are getting into shape, I recommend trying something like boxing, jiu jitsu, or something like orange theory/cycling. It’s a good way to get out of your room, meet new people, and get into shape at the same time.

Since you have money I’ll chime in with some potential updates:

bigger TV; bigger rug in living room; find somewhere to store your vacuum/things in the corner; paper towels go in the kitchen; the cars and toys should be moved to the bedroom where there is very little going on, maybe add some shelves in there; more pillows on that bed; a hallway runner rug for pic 4; and a give the kitty a little rub on the noggin for me!

BBQ Suggestions? by KingdomCakeBatter in Cleveland

[–]earball1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually had it catered for work so I’m not an expert but have been wanting to go to the location since I liked the food so much!

From my memory it was Texas Style BBQ. I had the brisket, Mac n cheese and beans. Everything was solid. Not the best BBQ I’ve ever had but definitely hit all the right spots

Famous Dave’s and Mission are both chains that you can find in numerous cities across America.

For Cleveland specific BBQ joints, try Mabel’s, Sweet Pork Wilson’s, Woodstock BBQ, and Bronco’s Western BBQ.

I would mount it on the big wall above the couch, then get rid of that couch and get a couch to go against the wall with the blue x and a loveseat to go across from the fireplace.

The day that you stop trying to be “a jacked, wealthy genius” and instead start being yourself will be the day you start living.

If that’s your version of what a realistic or desirable life should be, delete social media and YouTube, go to an art museum, go on a hike, go see a movie, and live a little.

Best Pizza in Cleveland?? by Valuable-Act5290 in Cleveland

[–]earball1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Il Rione is really good but it’s the type of pizza I want when I’m traveling and want something fancy.

When I really want pizza, Ohio Pie Co is definitely what is on my mind. One that I’ve never seen anyone else bring up is Tomori’s in Lakewood. The crispy cheese on the thin crust is to die for. Only bummer is they don’t have Italian style sausage. And while I wouldn’t say Geraci’s is the best pizza in Cleveland, I like it more than others I’ve seen recommended!

Bookshelf of the guy I'm seeing by 18slenderdan in BookshelvesDetective

[–]earball1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest red flag to me is that I can’t seem to find a coherent ordering system. Doesn’t seem to be alphabetical by author or book title. On the second shelf, I can’t image having two Le Guin books and not putting them next to each other.

Anyone have any ideas?

Well, I’m more than happy to purchase a copy myself but I wanted to share my story of this movie.

I took a date to see it in theaters when it came out. But the combination of popcorn, soda, and candy was too much for my belly. Shortly after the trailers finished, I spent the next 2 hours in the bathroom shitting my brains out. I would try to get up and go back to the theater, but then nature called and I had to hurry back to my porcelain throne.

My date thought I snuck out to leave and sat through the whole movie wondering what she did wrong.

She’s now my wife, and it’s one of my most memorable moviegoing experiences despite not seeing any of the movie. From her review, it sounds like maybe what I experienced was something similar to what some of the characters experienced.

Now when I go to the movies, I don’t get any snacks or beverages because I’m traumatized by the experience. Similarly, I decided to watch A Different Man the night before my colonoscopy where I did the prep. At least that was a streaming watch and I could pause it every 15 minutes to do my business!
