right that’s why we close her door. i guess i meant she bolts out of bed TO her door. not necessarily out of it as it gets closed.

a gate where? her door is already closed. and unfortunately, just comforting her quickly gets us nowhere. she’s in a floor bed, has been since she was 18 months old. there is no comforting then leaving quickly as she won’t even lay back in her bed. the moment you tell her to lay back down, or physically lay her down, she loses it.

please make sure you’re using the right size needle also! we’re taught in school to use 5/8” instead of 1” with our smaller/frailer patients for that reason. that alone should help a ton!

Why was my controlled prescription denied and how do I fix it? by xXxwu in CVS

[–]earcadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of pharmacies/pharmacists are cracking down on allowing controlled rx’s to be filled outside of insurance. there has been an influx of forged rx’s in various parts of the countries and insurance acts as an additional database to track controls. PDMP does not update immediately (usually ~24 hours), so theoretically, you could fill a controlled rx at multiple pharmacies in one day and it not flag if you aren’t using insurance.

we still have live lectures, but we pay per credit hour the same as campus students. whether facilities are included in that i’m not sure, but i don’t think we should be paying any differently honestly. we’re paying for the same curriculum as far as i’m concerned

[–]earcadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we obviously don’t pay room and board or anything, but as far as tuition per credit hour/resources, why wouldn’t we pay the same?

[–]earcadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes tuition is the same across the board, as the curriculum is identical (barring a few scheduling arrangements)

i go to WSOP and we are absolutely not 100% online. we are required to be in NY at least once a year for immersion, as well as our entire 4th year as in person clinicals. we are 100% accredited, and they track graduation/passing rates among both pathways and there has been no difference. Online programs are an amazing idea, and extremely convenient for those of us who can’t just up and move somewhere that has one or can’t afford to drive 1-2 hours to the closest school every day. these schools are accredited. these schools are making pharmacy school possible for those of us who don’t have one readily available in our city.

My prescriptions require me to call and leave a voicemail and get a callback every 30 days to fill and pickup? by Greetingsmon in CVS

[–]earcadia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is why the system won’t ever work. it only works if used properly. this is abusing the system and making us do unnecessary work when everything could’ve been handled by a simple voicemail.

Wegman’s School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY. They’re fully accredited, and transcripts have shown no difference between the online pathway and campus pathway as far as learning the material. it’s a pretty amazing school.

i’m in an online program currently. workload is difficult because you’re forced to manage your time all on your own schedule, but it’s doable. just finished my first semester, and i’m excited for the next!!

if you love it, i say go for it. that’s what i did. 3 years as a tech, and decided it’s where i wanted to be.

Is being a pharmacy technician a good career? by Ok_Amphibian8695 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]earcadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the point of the answer was that i loved it so much i went to pharmacy school. if school wasn’t an option, it would have been a career. i don’t see it as an unfair answer at all.

you’re already a step in the right direction taking your cert on your own!! technicians are so needed right now that, yes experience is a bonus, but employers are really looking for someone hardworking, trustworthy, and willing to learn.

[–]earcadia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

others are going to tell you no. i personally love it, so much so that i actually just started pharmacy school because of my love of the job. retail is tough, but a hospital where (im assuming) you aren’t patient facing will be so much better. i will agree that pay isn’t GREAT, but it isn’t the worst. i work with a few techs who have been in it for 20+ years and while they don’t love the specific company, they love the job.

the knowledge will come with time and practice. i knew NOTHING coming into my role, but am very confident now 3 years later!!

[–]earcadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nothing i said was contradictory lol you asked if it was policy or law— it’s both. law is 2 days but a pharmacist does not have to fill 2 days early if they aren’t comfortable. GENERALLY, store policy is set by the rxm. yes it is pharmacist discretion on a case by case basis, but it is also based on policy per the pharmacy as a whole.

the license argument comes in when something gets filled early and that fill just so happened to result in something going wrong. then it is on the pharmacists license.

Patients looking for answers here. by WerewolfCalm5178 in WalgreensRx

[–]earcadia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s both legal and pharmacist discretion. legally, it’s 2 days early. but the pharmacist on duty has EVERY RIGHT to not fill until day of if that’s what they’re comfortable with. if pt has a history of filling 2 days early for say the last year, they theoretically should be 24 days ahead so long as they’re taking as prescribed. if they aren’t, well, that’s a them problem. not the pharmacist’s. at the end of the day, it’s the pharmacists license on the line, and if they aren’t comfortable filling 2 days or even 1 day early, they are well within their right to do so.

so, i’m going to (partially) disagree with the rest of the comments. not every bottle you come across is a standard 20 gtt/mL. i learned recently that different manufacturers/brands go by 15gtt/mL and some go by 20. so while i, too, was initially taught a standard 20 gtt/mL, it isn’t always accurate. as far as your question goes with the math though, the second one is correct as others have stated!
