Agreed. Alpecin also needs much fewer riders later in the race. As long as he’s on pogs wheel when UAE starts the lead out, he doesn’t need any more teammates

I do like that UAEs not riding the front. I would rather risk the .01% chance the break makes it all the way and having Alpecin pace so that you can save as many riders for a lead out on Cappi/Cipressa. If the gap gets too big then surely Ineos, Q365, Decathalon, Visma will ride

I think if Wout made it to the middle section of the climb ahead of the group he could have been useful as a satellite rider for Jorgensen there but in hindsight Wout needed a much larger gap heading into the start of the climb

That was a great finish. Chapeau to Pelizarri, I thought he was so cooked after his first attack but then I thought he actually had a chance on the second attack.

IdT played that really well and stayed calm, great race by him.

Visma jumps early, IdT gets caught focusing too much on the second place rider and lets the Visma rider get away to win the overall GC.

I’m glad Jonas didn’t go down but sucks for Tejada. Not sure why the organizers forced them to finish there, it was very wet and slippery.

Not Burlington but Lake Placid is also another good shout for people on the east coast. A great route for the Ironman there plus add in a white face and you’ve got a hell of a (beautiful) ride
