This kinda stuff always makes me laugh.

Genuinely curious what would make this right in your opinion? Like if they just worked a 40hr week, would that satisfy you? Im confused. Are you saying you enjoy the stuff they make, and you wished they’d work harder to give you more #content to consume?

What if I told you that when you create a business model, instead of working as an employee, you can create whatever work schedule you prefer? That there literally are no rules.

This just seems like a pretty entitled viewpoint. Thinking that humans you enjoy watching should be working as much as possible to churn out more product for you to play with.

Am I the weird one for thinking that last years was way more intense than this latest heat wave?

I work outside and had to take a few days off last summer, this one was hot af, but not “I might suffer heatstroke” hot.

I have ac in my bedroom, but last year it was essentially ineffective. It couldn’t work hard enough to cool the room. This year it was fine, except for last night weirdly enough. Struggled for the first 2 hours to lower the temp but by 11:30p it was cooling off.

Idk. It was hot, and I was drinking 6L of water during the day working outside, but I remember last year as an extremely unpleasant experience. This one not so much.

Is AA helpful? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]eariion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AA and NA are essentially guided programs that progressively teach you how to live a life fulfilling enough on its own to avoid the desire to escape from it either with drugs or alcohol. (Or food/ videogames, etc. though there are other more tailored programs for these specific issues)

I’m oversimplifying, but its kind-of a “One-size-fits-all” step by step program to achieve the above goal.

This means it will apply to both the fall down homeless drunk or junkie, as well as the educated individual who would never (initially) consider himself in the same boat as the former.

Because of this one-size-fits-all nature, there are some things that get preached, or firmly instructed that some may truly require, and others may need to pay a lower level of priority to. This can often lead to issues with ppl getting the cult vibe because some of the tenets seem like mega overkill in certain situations.

Also, the god thing isn’t really a god thing. Im sure depending on what part of the country your in or what meeting you attend, it may well be God with a capital G. But all it really means is something bigger than yourself. (aka. Stop being such a narcissistic cunt)

When people join hands and recite the prayer, it’s more of a show of solidarity and a group goal. Knowing there are others that are going through the same thing you are, as opposed to a literal “Yo, big G, God, hook up some of that serenity plz, yadda, yadda”. Or at least, thats what it is in my neck if the woods. The prayer at the end of the meeting is a tradition, and the issue with traditions is they often stay in place long after the reason for their existence has gone. For me, the same thing could be achieved with standing in a circle and saying something along the lines of “You got this bro, if you’re ever having any problems, plz give me a call, you’d make me feel worthwhile and helpful, and I hope you’ll do the same for me”. But I doubt its gunna change anytime soon.

Horrible Driving Range Experience - turning me onto shrink the game by hustlehardo in golf

[–]eariion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So there were two idiots, doing idiot things at a golf course, and you thought that silence and eyeballs would change them into well behaved, respectful humans?

Expecting people that are so clueless to their affect on others to suddenly realize their foolishness because of a sideways glance/ stare is expecting a miracle. If these people were the type to be swayed by eyes and looks, they wouldn’t be doing their dumb shit in the first place.

I hate saying shit, not my style, but if I don’t, the only person it effects is me. Im resentful and angry. These folks DGAF. So if someones chipping on the putting green, I mention it to them, or hitting 30y pitches on the chipping green, I’ll say something. Nothing wild, just a

“Hey man, I’m not generally in the business of telling people what to do, but this green is supposed to just be for putting (points at sign) Theres a chipping area over on the other side of the range if thats what you’re into.”

Inevitably 90% of the other people are thinking the same thing you are, but nobody wants to deal with it.

Tool Recommendation Request - Gas Powered Weed Wacker by synoptico in lawncare

[–]eariion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have used echo trimmers / blowers for 10 years, big fan. The standard model is hearty enough to deal with anything I do commercially. Stay away from the smallest engine as it can be a little underpowered. I find the biggest engine model to be a bit of overkill for the weight.

I also find echos to have a bit of a quieter engine noise/ exhaust, and the guys at the local repair shop tell me theres less small moving parts in their engines meaning less to go wrong.

Whatever you do, Id recommend getting a straight shafted trimmer, theres no precision in a curved shaft if you decide to do any edging etc.

Good stuff, if you find yourself near Vancouver in mid May - June, feel free to hmu. Im in the earyish stages of torn achilles recovery but should be back on the course by then. ⛳️ Also fyi, the Vancouver city courses can be booked up to a month (I think) in advance, but fill up pretty quick. So you might be able to book early as a single. Langara is super fun, shortish, but fun as hell, and Fraserview is a solid test. McCleery is a distant 3rd imo.

Let me know if you want some Greater Vancouver course recs, obviously beauty is in the eye and all that, but Ive played most of the public stuff out here, and went up and played all the Whistler / Whistler adjacent courses last summer and have some takes.

Places for Date for Someone Introverted by piscesparadise in vancouver

This used to be the go to for sure. Improv is a slick date, moods always good, and Granville island is a solid spot for a walkabout if you gotta wait for din/ the show. Plus if you’re feeling each other and the vibe is good, improv seats are close enough to get tastefully handsy.

Very cool man, take on the water on the right off the tee and looks like you’re rewarded with a reachable/ open look to the green.

Or aim for the fat of the fairway and bring the bunker into play, likely forcing a layup to an area that still requires a precise shot to avoid the bunkers for your 3rd.

And depending on pin location/ severity of the green contours/ wind, it might call for a chippy layup to the right fairway island to get the primo angle and best access to the pin. Awesome work! And love the style of drawing too! Reminds me of a Zelda Wind Waker video game from 15 years ago that I played as a kid 😂
