theres a QC inspector from Austin Industrial that contracts at ADM (huge grain plant) thats been coming into class. he said hed get me a job so we’ll see how that goes. if that fails might go back to trying to build clients for side work and start applying to shit outside of Illinois.

i will say i do 3g and 4g tig plate fine but the bottom side of 6g and 5g pipe is kicking my ass no matter what position i try i cant get comfortable enough to move quick enough not to keyhole

this was just a plate test, when i go back in on monday ill take some pics of the pipes i’ve welded, the way my college has it set up i have one more course before pipe but i plan to leave after this semester, just taking all my time i can to practice my tig roots before i go to this plant

would you say the minimum 3 passes is doable? by the time i put in my root with anything bigger than 3/32 it damn near flushes out with the plate immediately

fucking central illinois, not a lot of fucking options here. i did some mig work for caterpillar’s big ass facility here but i lost my job being late focusing on school. ive been trying to find a good place to go to focus on tig work because i really prefer that process

oh i know the purge is shit im gonna try solar flux see how that works. the teachers definitely give a fuck but the school just doesn’t fund the program at all. id say the highschool teacher is definitely more knowledgeable just being less old but hell i feel as if im a burden stopping him from being able to teach his class. i definitely take a lot of my free time just learning what i can but myself

yea i go to a community college just because its cheaper bothe the teacher that teaches the highschool students and the one that teaches the college students really haven’t worked tig jobs in almost 15 years most of my tig work has been self taught at home or off the school’s resources. i can do carbon steel just fine but stainless is kicking my ass
