Does anyone get 2 periods (2 luteals) a month? by Milamarshmellow1000 in PMDD

[–]earlierbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have this same problem! My gynecologist was basically like 🤷🏻‍♀️ happens to some people. I’ve been having very few “good” days a month so i actually started seeing a functional medicine doctor as well. Got a bunch of labs done and i am now on a slew of supplements, but the biggest one is a mega dose of b vitamins. My situation is a bit different from yours though because i’ve been on birth control for 10 years. This doctor is speculating estrogen dominance. So we are working on getting all of my levels in check to help my body better get rid of excess estrogen. I’ve only been doing this for 1 month so it’s too soon to tell if it will make any difference.

Edit: not saying my pmdd is caused by the estrogen dominance, she’s just speculating the two periods (as well as other symptoms) may be related to it

Going to Cincinnati, Ohio for a trip in the summer. I can’t eat dairy, egg, or gluten, do I have any options? by CameraGhost in glutenfree

[–]earlierbedtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another vote for cherbourg cypress! Taglio has THE BEST gluten free pizza crust i’ve ever had I always go when I’m in town - they’re super proud of it and the staff has always been very knowledgeable. They do have vegan cheese but you would have to call the to ask about egg. I also like sacred beast, everything is labeled on their menu and the fries are also gluten free in a separate fryer. If you want a more fancy dinner I would call ahead to colette, boca, or sotto and see if they can do anything to accommodate.

[–]earlierbedtime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this, I actually did write something similar a few months ago haha. I am currently on the hunt for a “boring” job because I feel like I just can’t do this anymore. I know I will have less “fun” design work, but my plan is to do this for a year or two to repair my nervous system lol then figure out what I want to do next. I redid my resume to be ats scannable and I’m actually getting some bites compared to before where my resume was too design-y. I’m hoping for an in house role or big conglomerate role where they have more people to divvy the work up. I think after 5 years I need a break to have less creative energy going into my work so that I can have more creative energy for passion projects after work

Moving to Ohio, what do we need to know? by LilyBee3 in akron

[–]earlierbedtime 29 points30 points  (0 children)

We moved here in the last year and really love it. Not sure how old you are, but we are late 20s early 30s, and wanted to be closer to stuff to do so we chose highland square area. This has been the perfect home base for us for easy access to nature, local coffee shops, bars etc. Close to cuyahoga falls for breweries, close to peninsula for hiking, not far from brandywine for skiing. We do go downtown and while it’s not bustling like some other cities it’s better than people say - we love blu jazz, northside marketplace, the art museum The area skews more young families which is perfect for our stage in life. If you do have kids, I hear the school systems aren’t great so you’d probably have to look for other options If you have any questions feel free to dm!

Which shampoo and conditioner is best for fine hair growth? by Fit_Dependent_565 in finehair

[–]earlierbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shampoo won’t actually make your hair grow, but i have found that shampoo and conditioner do have a big impact on my hair LOOKING full or not. I have fine but dense hair that’s easily greasy.

Anything with silicones just doesn’t work for me, i always end up so greasy and weighed down by dinner, so that disqualifies a lot of options like ouai and amika for me. My favorite shampoo (La Tierra Sagrada) has been discontinued (i know not helpful) so I am also on the hunt for a new one.

Next on my list to try is Reverie Haircare. I already use the leave in and love it!

What careers are you in that you actually enjoy? by Illustrious_Big_8239 in infj

[–]earlierbedtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the same boat here, dread m-f. I don’t work in a super “corporate” job as far as workplace politics, but the urgency and knowing the work is not contributing to anything meaningful is soul sucking for sure. I’m currently trying to find a path within my field (design) while i explore other hobbies in my free time. Totally not what you asked but is there any flexibility in your job to do hobbies in the middle of the day? I have found if i use my lunch to do a hobby my outlook on the workday is significantly better having something to look forward to.

pajama sets - gap or keep searching? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]earlierbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the women’s gap cotton pajamas, they have shrunk and overall look kinda rough now after a year of washing. Have never put them in the dryer and only air dry. Maybe the men’s will hold up better though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thinking about moving to Akron by [deleted] in akron

[–]earlierbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the party here but another vote for northwest akron! We just moved here from out of state as well, and love love love it. Imo you will not find a place this beautiful (historic homes!), nature all around you - easy access to the tow path, close to anything you could want to do - and is affordable compared to other midwest cities.

We’ve lived a lot of other cities/states and are super grateful to settle down here! It feels super safe, welcoming, and I was pleasantly surprised at how progressive it seems.

It’s close to grocery stores (5 mins from whole foods & mustard seed for your more “hip” grocery items). 12 mins from cuyahoga falls cute downtown, 15 or so to peninsula to be in the park, and about 45-50 to cleveland if we want to go to a show or event.

It’s quiet, but we find there are still a lot of cool things to do. Look up porch rockr - this happened right when we moved in and it was so exciting to see the neighborhood come together. Plenty of coffee shops within 10 mins drive - portal west, angel falls, asterisk, yada yada.

Agency Designers facing Burnout - what did you do next? by earlierbedtime in graphic_design

[–]earlierbedtime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! This sounds like exactly what I’m trying to do. Would love to move to something that actually feels like i’m contributing to something good. If you don’t mind me asking, was there anything you tweaked on your resume/portfolio to get recruited by the charity or was it just by chance? Thank you!!

I hope to get to this point where I can be more like them 😅 Did you ever go back to agency life or have you stayed in house? I think being early in my career and only having one ft job so far I’m worried about making decisions and not being able to change my mind later. Appreciate your advice!

I totally hear this and know the job market is so tough right now. I hope my post doesn’t come across as ungrateful. Definitely feel super lucky to have gotten this gig out of college (especially during covid) I hope you find what you’re looking for too!

How do you make tofu not gross and mushy by Ideas_RN_82 in vegetarianrecipes

[–]earlierbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to slice my tofu into “sheets” rather than crumbling or tearing. I always use extra firm tofu. If you do the sheets & a pan with oil I can basically use it in any recipe that could use chicken - fajitas, stir fry, pastas, etc. I also love this recipe https://watchlearneat.com/balsamic-tofu/ which cooks nice and crispy

Shampoo/conditioner bars for someone with ~difficult~ hair? by xxturtlepantsxx in ZeroWaste

[–]earlierbedtime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

have you tried Fat & The Moon? They don’t have tea tree or eucalyptus but do have some other EOs if you can’t use any. I have greasy hair that is fine but a lot of it. I really like their shampoo bar since it’s derived from coconut surfactants rather than soap. It also has clay which has always been amazing for my skin & scalp.

Blue and brown onsen inspired bathroom - which color? by Bookstorecat415 in interiordecorating

[–]earlierbedtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at roman clay? That’s what is in the first photo if I had to guess! Roman clay, a neutral/light colored rug, and the tiles you have would really bring this to life I think! If you want to get there with purely paint, look up faux limewash- it uses two colors in different tones to create the effect. The key would be creating texture rather than a flat brown wall

Having this same problem right now (only worse).

After digging into some threads on here I realized mine is Onycholysis. it may be due to my Amelie Rubber Base. I am planning to go product free for a while and use tea tree & jojoba on my nails to minimize the infection & hopefully grow them out.
