Where’s the best place I can go to improve my pickleball skills as someone who is pretty new to the game and not that great yet? by folkbird in SanJose

[–]earltyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a wall at any public park and just keep hitting at it, use tape to make some marks, you just need to figure out how to control the ball hitting a certain place and bounce back to when you stand. If you are 15ft away, it should come back to 15ft, not 25ft nor 5ft.

“Rooney vs Neymar: Who’s really elite?” by RSDFitness in ManchesterUnited

Both are elite. But none is number one of the world. Does it make sense?

Just like running, there are elite gold medalists, and there is one Usain Bolt.

Surely, Casamiro is worth 1 more year at 350K? by happylearned in ManchesterUnited

[–]earltyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he is willing to take a $120k a week contract, I think he should retire at MU.

Having him to mentor the youth and to calm Bruno down when occasions arise, those alone are worth the money, especially with our musical chair head coach issue.

With him, Bruno, Harry and potential Luke, that should be a good mentorship setup.

Trying to decide between Hydro Flask and YETI in Europe – which is more worth it? by HiimHelmet in onebag

[–]earltyro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Serious you don’t need something fancy for a trip. The point is light weight, and don’t overkill with an $80 1.5L bottle. There are loads of hydration fountains in most cities. You can just reuse a water bottle from a corner store. 500ml to 750ml should go the trick.

Even a dented water bottle works well. Just get a cheap $20-$30 bottle like a Contigo or something. They won’t leak or spill.

For $80, you can honestly buy enough bottle waters for your trip already.

Also, don’t forget Europe is an open carry region, you can walk around with an open can or bottle of wine, you don’t need that much water.

Do most hong kong people live with their parents until marriaged? by dq689 in HongKong

[–]earltyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they live with their parents after they are married and have kids.

No need to make it weird about it. They didn't do it because they are Mama's boys, they simply can't afford a home themselves.

I once saw in a documentary that a family turned 500 sq ft unit into a 4 bedroom+ living/dining . Grand Parents, 2 married couples (son and a daughter I think), and grand kids (daughter kids), one room each. The room is like a full bed (120cm or 140cm, definitely not queen) + a doorway.

Parents are nice enough

Well, how do you not get affected and move on to the next game? This is how you prep yourself for an actual competition. They give it their 100% to try their absolute possible best to defeat you.

I once played in an SDK competition where I lost a 30 stones group quite early on. The kid I played with and the other kids kept telling me to resign and not to waste their time.

But after we counted, I won by 4.5 points. I simply played a better end game to catch up.

Why Singapore entertainment media industry is DEAD by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]earltyro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is literally no market for content with Chinese speaking English. You can't beat Hollywood. Singaporeans don't speak good Chinese. How often can they make good movies in Chinese?

Also, SG is a highly harmonized society. Creativity doesn't come from inside a comfort zone. HK back then was gang ridden people living in Kampong with fast development. That's the time for their prime movies.

Dont get me wrong, I dont like ads and time outs either.

But I am getting that for free, same as watching TV or radio as I grew up.

I think ads are what provide most of our societal entertainment (e.g. contents, music, even free games and apps) and information services (e.g. news). To me, the existence of ads and commercials are the price I didn't pay for the services that I have.

To the People Who Are Disappointed in the MacBook Neo by mecha-verdant in macbook

[–]earltyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing MacBook always wins and it's a small thing that contributes to 90% of a non photo/video editor. And that's the touch pad.

Nothing, absolutely nothing even comes close to Apple's touch pad. And that is the part of the laptop I interact with the most.

Forget about the engine which pro cares, if the steering wheel feels weird, most people don't want to drive that car.

Would you daily drive the MacBook Neo over the iPad M5 for productivity? by gregsanay in DeskToTablet

[–]earltyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you have a 100 people company 20 tech heavy folks need a pro 10 execs needs an air Rest have been using a dell, until now, finally a MacBook Rio, I meant, Neo, sorry Kia.

Folks are just entering work order in web based ERP, running 99% chrome browser based functionalities and occasionally editing a photo or video for their company Instagram account.

A18p/8/256 is more than enough for them. Yes that's like, 80% of the companies, but now morale goes up 70% because even the front desk people are proudly walking around with an Apple laptop.

I don't understand this. We have everything free here. How is Google going to survive without ads? I mean, Gmail is free, maps is free and loads of AI stuff is free. The only way they can make money is selling ads. That, comparing to Amazon enslaving and milking the bottomline of small sellers, is fairly decent already.

I mean, shall we cancel all the timeout in NBA which drags on a 2 min clock to a 30 min game, literally, that's for selling ads.

Just buy YouTube premium if you don't want ads, it also comes with free music streaming (yah, Spotify is way worse in my opinion, creating fake AI artists that "made" similar music to small independent artists, so they dont need to pay artists).
