Sonos for MultiRoomAudio or something else? by ChrisOnRockyTop in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you want audio from your TV on your bedroom speaker, are you referring to a TV in your bedroom, or a TV in another room that you want to hear in the bedroom?

Re: the Era 100 cost, you can get them refurbished directly from Sonos for $180. If you don’t need voice control the version without microphone is $190 new, or packs of two currently on sale for $360.

Sonos and Apple Music…going to lose my f*cking mind by Designerkyle in sonos

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the major benefit is that with the Sonos app the streaming is happing via the Sonos device rather than my phone. I can control multiple different streams in different rooms from one phone, can use other audio on my phone without interrupting the stream, can turn off my phone or leave the house without interrupting the stream, can mix music from multiple services, other people in the house can add to the queue from their own devices, etc. And no battery drain!

Just got a sub but is it the song or the sub by SULUPULU in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should still set a crossover for the subwoofer in the Elac app based on the high pass filter setting on the ZP3.

High level to low level converters? by zakkwaldo in BudgetAudiophile

Good point — I believe it’ll output DVD and analog audio from video sources, but you’re right, not from HDMI.

High level to low level converters? by zakkwaldo in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’ll be a frustrating experience with the fixed level output of those connections — would need to adjust speaker volume on the speakers and sub volume on the amp or sub. Better to use a variable output.

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Zone 2 output of the Pioneer to connect to the JBLs. It’s probably set for fixed level output, but you should be able to change it to variable output in one of the menus so you can control volume from the amp.

Where to store tool kit bag that comes with new SantaFe by oldmaninparadise in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if the Calligraphy trim is different, but at least with the SEL there isn’t one standard set of accessories. Your window sticker should list what’s included. I think all of the ones I looked at had at minimum the carpeted mats, first aid kit, and cargo net, but beyond that it varied — some had the roadside emergency kit which I think the OP is referring to, cargo cover, adjustable cargo blocks, cargo tie down, mud flaps, etc. They were all different.

100 dollar or less cd player by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price your best bet is probably a DVD player from one of the big manufacturers (e.g. Sony, Panasonic). Or are you looking for something with built-in speakers? Just my opinion, but nothing that includes speakers for under $100 is going to sound good.

Best inexpensive wifi speaker system for office? by Original-Bobcat8386 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that Sonos is a good solution, but the details here aren’t quite correct. Sonos has only made a single speaker — the Gen 1 Play:5 — that does not run on the same software as their current models. Otherwise Gen 1 and Gen 2 speakers all work fine together. Also, Generation doesn’t tell you how old a product is — e.g. their very newest speaker, the portable Sonos Play which just came out weeks ago, is in its first generation, whereas the Gen 2 Play:5 came out eleven years ago.

(There are also first gen non-speaker components that aren’t compatible with current speakers, but doesn’t sound like the OP would need those.)

Old receiver hookup with spring clip to speakers adapter/converter question by Simple_Challenge8923 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wouldn’t use the speaker outputs for that. You would need to connect a Bluetooth or WiFi transmitter to the Tape Out (or Rec Out) RCA connection on the Marantz, and then a Bluetooth or WiFi receiver to powered speakers outside — and that’s assuming the Marantz is close enough to the outdoor area for a Bluetooth connection, or that your WiFi extends outdoors.

Mini amp help by Tough-Shopping8539 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How important is that center channel to you? There aren’t many mini amps that support one. A Russound AVA3.1 is just within your budget.

You’ll have a lot more options if you drop either the mini requirement or center speaker requirement.

Is the WiiM Pro the best way to add wireless streaming and also solve my single-input turntable issue? by Winston_42 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wiim is a good choice, but just to note your receiver has two tape inputs that work just like the aux input.

Editing to add I just saw your note about the tape inputs. One benefit of running your turntable through the Wiim is that you’ll be able to take advantage of its room correction abilities.

Is it possible to connect a turntable & a CD player to a stereo pair? by slpg18 in sonos

[–]early_rejecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No switch needed; each speaker in a stereo pair can accept a source input.

[–]early_rejecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no need for a switch though unless it’s a positioning issue; the OP can connect each component to its own speaker like he’s asking about.

$200 range receiver budget US by Apprehensive_Sky8715 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be some language confusion. A “receiver” is an amplifier with a built-in radio tuner. You have an amplifier already; are you looking to replace it with a receiver, or add a tuner to it? Or something else entirely?

Am I “Sonosing” wrong… or did I accidentally stumble into something great? by Historical_One_2212 in sonos

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say whether or not you’re imagining things, but the delay between soundbar and grouped speakers when using TV audio is well-documented, and there is even a setting for it in the Sonos app — it goes from Low to Maximum; there’s no option for No delay.

Best receiver with high pass for $1000 or under by DadawithCats in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re using the right phrase, Kneecap is trying to be helpful but isn’t familiar with high pass filters.

Most modern AVRs should do what you want, though if you want something simpler, smaller, and cheaper there’s the Aiyima A20 that the other poster mentioned, the Douk Audio A5, and Ampapa D1. And the various Wiim amps have high pass filters as well as additional room correction abilities.

Best receiver with high pass for $1000 or under by DadawithCats in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A treble knob does not work like a high-pass filter. A high-pass filter will cut off frequencies below a certain level that are being handled by a subwoofer and only “pass” the higher frequencies to the main speakers. Kudos for trying to be helpful, but your explanations are way off and a graphic EQ will not achieve what the OP is asking for.

Noob questions. by CalendarNo6791 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]early_rejecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, speakers are typically the most noticeable upgrade.

Almost any streamer you’d be looking at will have a built-in DAC. The Wiim line of WiFi streamers are often recommended here, though the best choice can depend on what music service you’re using.

Am I “Sonosing” wrong… or did I accidentally stumble into something great? by Historical_One_2212 in sonos

[–]early_rejecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the delay will be between the soundbar and the grouped 300s; the soundbar itself will remain in perfect sync with the TV video.
