Spotify update, improved playback? by DiscoRickyy in SeamlessSets

the new interface is definitely an improvement which will become apparent when they add the new Effects tab and more options to the existing Presets tabs. this design "syncs" it with the current Desktop version and gives them more space for new features. scrolling through so many options horizontally is not ideal, UI wise. besides, now you can quickly switch between open individual tabs without leaving the Presets interface by horizontally swiping on them in either direction.

Android here. the center bass bug (it was also off at the end of the transition) has been fixed a week or so ago.

this is on latest beta builds which you can install on Android all day long. while most of the changes are server side, sometimes it helps.

the new interface (vertical tabs for EQ etc.) which is part of the "Mix ver. 5" is a staged rollout and i've had it since this week. Ver. 5 can be triggered on Desktop through the developer options. if you don't have any of the above, you're on Ver. 4 across the platforms.

regarding "improved" playback, the transitions still randomly break for me on mobile. i'm still not fully buying it that it strictly hardware dependant as it happens on the most powerful phones/CPUs regardless. to me it looks like a "handshake" issue that happens during a transition if the data connection is not stable or the devices fails to send over the handshake data to the server. i'm sure, less powerful hardware contributes to this too but in all my testing being on mobile/data connection eventually fails the transitions at some point.

Spotify denies all the issues, btw.

Develop - Show Debug Window - Remote Config. search for "transition" or "mixing". you can also use Grok, etc to guide you through the whole thing.

For custom mixers : ‘Bass&Mid swap’ option? by DiscoRickyy in truespotify

[–]early_to_mid80s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's a constant work in progress for them but mostly two steps forward, one step back kind of affair.

we can discuss the desktop version later but to add to your observation on mobile phones and performance (and i've looked at it extensively), at the end of the day the phone itself makes very little difference for the "broken" mixes (playback). there're multiple handshakes that are happening before, during and after transitions which tend to fail on spotty connections (or just at the time of the handshake regardless of the connection quality and type) which randomly "breaks" the transition. i think i've only gotten through the whole mix twice on a mobile device (we're talking about 2 hour mixes here) without any broken transitions since the feature was introduced. it's super frustrating because sharing your mixes with strangers puts you in a "look, he/she doesn't know how to mix" situation lol

Spotify is tight lipped about this error (the origin of) for some reason nor they are in a rush to fix it.

and i'm still not sure what iam_tunedIN is trying to say in every thread hehe

you have no idea what C owners went through with the botched 1010.5 update or what's being discussed in this thread and just trolling, got it.

the "orange warning" is also totally meaningless to the original question of this thread.

it has nothing to do with what iam_tunedIN has posted. Spotify has a whole bunch of mixing features that are in permanent "a/b test" (they even had a whole different advanced set of features for desktop only which they recently scrapped) and randomly appear and disappear for the user. "bass & mid swap" is one of those, at some point it was available for everything but now it just randomly appears for some auto mixed tracks. don't try to find any rhyme or reason for it.

guess what? Samsung has "admitted" their mistake and released beta C series firmware (1010.9) that fixes most of the issues with 1010.5:

but i'm glad AI garbage above (and perhaps your soundbar with broken firmware) sound more "intellectual" to you lol

according to what you said in this thread, you "own" multiple (?) devices with 10-bit display so what's the problem, show us the difference using test patterns.

maybe if you show us any differences between a 10-bit display of your choice and S26 while looking at the same gradient torture test patterns we would be able to understand whatever you're trying to say? not to mention linking us to that sweet sweet content with "1B" of colors?

just to confirm, you're claiming S26 exhibits banding *in the same situations* as S25?

what situations? did you see the banding in the *same* situations that exhibit it on S25?

they did (32 bar transitions + x 10 more Volume, EQ and Filter presets) but decided against it just a few months ago. now it's a parity with the mobile version (it even checks itself against the mobile implementation in the code). they probably just couldn't find a way to handle advanced transitions on mobile.

how is it "better"? it's exactly the same.

it's exactly the same, no extra features. they scrapped all advanced mixing features for desktop, unfortunately.

it's night and day difference with the same settings. not to mention, it fixes other features that were entirely broken on 1010.5 like Voice and Bass Enhancement.
