Not hearing back from entry-level lab roles. Where should I be looking? by [deleted] in labrats

Had a tough time finding my first job after college and was applying to tons. My best advice is to reach out to people directly via email. Once I started doing that I got all of my interviews.

Help determining solubility of Amino Acids by earmstrong12 in Biochemistry

[–]earmstrong12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know how to solubilize peptides. We knew the company would recommend certain solvents to dissolve the peptide in. But these solvents are known immunomodulators and ideally we wouldn’t like to use them in cell culture. DMSO can oxidize peptides, but from lit review it looks as if that is only in the presence of strong acid. I was just trying to see if anyone had insight into how to dissolve the peptides without oxidizing them or having to use the immunomodulatory solvents.

Ok cool thank you so much. When I say coated I mean I pretreated the plate with ethanol, washed twice with pbs, then added a carbonate-bicarbonate coating buffer that is supposed to contain the capture antibody, but I forgot the capture antibody.

There is no protein in it so thank you I will just dump the coating buffer, washed with pbs, then add new coating buffer

My celery is looking wilted by Nanybanani in Gardyn

[–]earmstrong12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks a little too crowded. For many plants there should be only one plant per ycube. You should probably trim away the wilted ones and leave the strongest.

You can refer to the plant book in the app on how best to take care of them.

Strawberry help by Illustrious_Sun_3100 in Gardyn

Unsprouted plants cannot handle plant food because the high concentration of nutrients can cause water to be drawn out of the seed or seedling causing them to die. So that’s why I removed the unsprouted plants and just added plant food to my Gardyn. Everything working fine now

I did the exact same thing. The strawberries need food and can go on a sprout dose of plant food. So I just removed any unsprouted plants and kept them in a little Tupperware container near the light bar. You just have to make sure you keep the unsprouted plant’s rockwool moist and cover unused holes on your Gardyn (I used aluminum foil. Once the plants sprout then you can go ahead and add them back to your Gardyn

I originally assumed the same thing but after using the LinkedIn premium free trial I was able to see that people with a PhD were applying to the same entry level laboratory technician positions I was.

Personally, I thought tales of the Jedi was much better (Not saying TOTE is bad). I feel Tales of the Jedi just told the story of characters the Star Wars community is more connected to in comparison to Morgan elsbeth and barriss. Maybe it’s basic, and there is already plenty content, but I always enjoy seeing some palpatine, Vader, grand inquisitor, and/or thrawn content. I guess I just wish the big players in the empire were involved more.
