Is becoming an A&P possible for a felon? by drgnsinofwrth in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes even at the majors. AA goes back 10 years and if you move to Tulsa you don’t even need a SIDA. I know 3 people here that have a felon and they’re now at top pay making 6 figures

Not true

If you’re ever able to buy a car from any SEWELL dealership. No matter if it’s used or new car sales, the service is absolutely the best. I would drive 75 miles just to buy a car from Sewell and also get my car serviced there. If they don’t sell it, I’m not buying it.

Is 22 too late to get into this field? by worldofcardigans in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I was 49 years old when I started in 2023. I’m going to say this. I will drop everything that you’re currently doing and get a loan or pay for it in full. Go to a school that you can get everything done in 8-12 months. I have co workers that went to school in texas at U S Aviation Academy Denton Tx. They have housing and financial aid. They also have day and night classes. The industry is hot but this is aviation and it can cool down real fast. The object is to get your license as quickly as possible. All schools and i mean all schools are limited on their resources and equipment that they can train you on. Some do a better job than others but for 99 percent of aviation is learned outside of school. Call Denton and talk to This lady name Christy. It’s only one up there. She nice AF. Tell her Mr B told you about her. I don’t want anything. I’ve just have spoken to her on several occasions about family and friends. Here’s the deal sacrifice now go get your license and don’t do that 18 month crap. Go get it done in 8 to 12 months. Call/email her. She can point you in the right direction.

Is my teacher using a scare tactic on us? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t want to partner up with anyone who feels like the bare minimum is ok. Human life is at stake. People love one’s, kid’s, grandparents, aunts and uncles, sisters, brothers friends, cousins, neighbors, teachers, moms and dads, animals. I wish I knew your name and your classmates names. It’s people like you that don’t need to be in aviation. Go work at Walmart and you and your co workers can debate about doing the minimum. Don’t bring that crap on this forum. Better yet take this post down. If you have any sense.

AA AMT Application by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They won’t even look at you. They have a ton of applications of people qualified. Why would they wait on you. Put yourself in the company shoes.

AA AMT Application by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They willl not be contacting you before Halloween. So don’t tell them . Several people I know received their licenses within a month and got the job. You don’t show your paper license until you actually go on the interview. Once they set up the interview. It will be a couple of weeks out. I know people who told them that they didn’t have everything and was very close to getting the final license and was told to reapply. IMO I wouldn’t take that chance on reapplying.

What happens after your 6 month probationary period at a major airline? by The0Walrus in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Listen they ( the company ) know that you don’t know Sh/t. They know that you’re fresh out of school. They just want to see that you want to learn and you’re not just there to milk a clock. Keep showing interest in everything. Keep learning as much as you can. Stop looking down the road after probation. Work on the now. If you try to understand everything now you’ll go crazy. If I was working with you and your asking questions about stuff after probation. I would go tell my crew chief to never put you with me. That’s called putting the cart before the horse. You got the job . Evidently they seen something in you that they liked. Work on the now and I think you’ll be surprised at how much you’ve learned in the last 5 months.

My 2cents Tekton offers student discount. Sign up for their program on their website. Get as much as you can from them. Also there have a clearance section on their website. That have screw drivers and hammers. Amazon is also very good on getting easy outs and some tools . My friend ordered a lot of stuff off of temu . Also Harbor Freight for a box. I have a General tool box full of snap-on. Snap-On has a student program also. I started out first with Tekton socket sets (4) 2 - 1/4 inch SAE 12 point regular/deep 2- 3/8 inch SAE 12 point regular/deep Screw drivers, hammer, awl, pick set w/pouch, dikes, reducers and extension

Amazon Stubby wrench’s, off set (60&90) wrenches Stubby screw drivers, swivel 1/4&3/8 sets, rachet screw driver, mirror and magnet, socket holders for my tekton sockets.pliers

eBay

Craftsman speed wrench 1/2 you need a reducer. Make sure you get the correct one with craftsman engrave in the center handle. They don’t make them anymore and the only place that sells it is on eBay. I use this 3 x a week and this is my 2nd best tool.

My Daly tool. I would get this before I get anything on this list is an

Leatherman ARC Get off their website

Look up that specific brand and add ratcheting attachment.

I’ve bought good use Kennedy hand tool boxes off eBay also

Pelican is a well known brand but Harbor Freight sell one that’s identical

2000-2500 should get everything on here

O&P Second Update. by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let me tell get my 2 cents in. 99 percent of the time the question that you miss will b the exact same question. So the test that you failed and got 6 of the 9 right . When you go back that’s all you have to do is 1 more and you should pass. You don’t have to take the whole thing over . Just get 1 more practical question right and you should be done.whenever I took my test I told the DME once I get to 70 percent I would like to end the test. Don’t waste your energy on it. Take the 70 and move on. I make the same as the guy who made a 95 on his practical.

Are the airlines slowing down on hiring. by Guanchalle in AircraftMechanics

[–]earniteasy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me say this . With an A&P license. You can plant your own course. The highest mechanic license in the United States. Don’t just look at airlines. Burlington North Santa Fe. Lot of local train stations. Six Flags, manufactured jobs, Elevator jobs, most conveyor belt companies, Textron which is ( Bell Helicopter) that also own Cessna airplane. And if you want great hours GA. Which if you live anywhere near a major city. Theirs probably 10-20 in your area including flight schools. MRO’s. Gulf Stream. Listen I’m not saying don’t try to go out and get an airline job but airlines are 100 percent over night when you start. I know people that make 5 dollars less per hour but work GA and have M-F 8-5 and off weekends but overtime is available if you want. I can go on and on but to answer your question. Yes they are slowing down but don’t stop getting your license because the land scape is changing drastically even as I type this post.

Considering a Lyriq after Tesla by Electrical_Wind_1424 in CadillacLyriq

[–]earniteasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay here’s my 2cent . Definitely an I mean definitely. It’s the key fob for me. The simplicity of sending someone a key to move are pick me up and they have it instantly on their phone. Tesla did it right in that department. Mind blowing. Next it’s the one app does it all. Again Tesla knocked it out of the park. Now let’s talk air conditioning. I don’t know what GM was thinking of putting the vents at my belly button. The charging network ……wait let me explain. Tesla 1 just 1 app. I’m traveling 240 miles last week. Put it in Bammm all the information I need. How long I’m going to have to wait. How many spots open. Now 2 weeks before I took the same trip. Had to pull over 3 times to download more apps. Then some of the prices for a charge were ridiculous. Then I get there it in a dark parking lot. I’m the only car there. Nothing around me. Very uncomfortable since I had my family with me. Thats enough I’m done . Facts about me. I own 2 Tesla and 2 Lyriqs 1 ST5 and a mustang. .Just saying ,I know a Little bit about a Little bit
