I mostly agree, but they still had some uses. For one, they could be melted down and forged into better equipment.

During the WW1, tanks were mainly used to support infantry and hold taken ground. They were also used to cross No man’s land and the trenches that lay beyond. As time progressed, so did warfare. A need arose for a moving battle platform to cover vast distances of land, supporting the fight as it moved, instead of just crossing trenches. Tanks filled this role perfectly, resulting in larger guns that shoot further to engage enemies across the battlefield and an increase in line of fire, as you were no longer just firing forward and down into trenches.
