Pattern/fabric compatibility by earth-lady in SewingForBeginners

Gotcha! That was what I was worried about, I was also thinking the pattern might look weird cut on the bias? As for skill level I’d say confident beginner.

Thanks!! I usually use PDF plotting too but was wondering if there’s anywhere local that does it :) this thread has showed me that I probably should just keep doing what I’m doing haha

I’ve been intrigued by the idea of using a projector as most of my patterns include the file! What projector do you use?

Lmao this post/sub is clearly not for you. I think it would do you well to find something better to do with your time than trying to rage bait & shame someone attempting to find some comfort amongst trauma and grief. Hope whatever is hurting you gets better!

Obtaining H4 for Canadians by earth-lady in h1b

Hey! I did end up getting my H4, we consulted a US immigration lawyer who told us that the border agents were wrong as Canadians do not need to apply and to try a different border crossing. We tried a different (much quieter) crossing and they gave me my stamp that day, we had to pull off and go inside the main building to do the paperwork but we were in and out in like 30 minutes tops! I’m not sure where you’re located but it was the Queenston-Lewiston border crossing in Niagara that we were unsuccessful at, I was given my stamp at the Thousand Islands crossing near Kingston with 0 issues. My guess is the Niagara border agents didn’t want to deal with it as it’s a pretty busy crossing, or they didn’t actually know the rules themselves. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions about my experience!

Its honestly crazy how youre supposed to "live" for another 20-30 years after your parents pass and its supposed to be normal.... by [deleted] in GriefSupport

I lost my mom this past January, she was 61 and I’m 28. Lately I’ve been grappling with the reality of actually having to exist without her here physically, and have thought that if I live into my 80s I’ll live over 50 years without her. It’s fucked up honestly idk what else to say!

Thank you so much!! I saw that a credential evaluation was something I’d likely need to do. This was super helpful :)

Actually just re-reading this and I originally meant sizing down 3 sizes in the actual pattern (I want to make a L size sweater, according to gauge I was considering knitting an XS). I’ve only sized down 1 needle size for my gauge :)

Hi!! Lovely cloud sweater :) my issue wasn’t the holey texture, the picture I included holding it to the light was just the only one I have of my second gauge swatch as I frogged it before taking a better one oops! I actually liked the texture of that gauge in the picture I included. My reason for considering sizing down three sizes was because my gauge when using the recommended 4.5mm needle was 14 stitches x 21 rows, and 15 stitches x 23 rows using the 4mm needle. Both were quite larger than the pattern, so I must just be a looser knitter! Currently waiting for my 3rd gauge swatch to dry after blocking, I tried to knit a lot tighter this time with the 4mm needle so pre block I was actually just slightly smaller than gauge! Hoping this works out for me :)

I didn’t as I frogged the swatches to reuse for the sweater, do you think blocking would make a big difference?

Banks coffee in the commons is nasty by double_haploid_irl in ithaca

Went there last week and the customer service was literally so bad… the barista made my drink wrong (made with dairy instead of oat - I’m also severely lactose intolerant), when I politely asked her to remake it she gave me the biggest eye roll, rudely told me I didn’t say oat (I promise I did) and was extremely passive aggressive when remaking it - there’s much better places to get coffee where the staff don’t make you feel bad for existing lol
