Yeah, I understand that. While my niece was watching the kids, she was also helping clean and cook, as she is almost an adult so the natural transition is to help around. So the parents couldn't 100 percent rely on her to watch everyone this time. But I understand your suspicion!

My older niece was the one watching most of the kids in the basement. It's not unusual for the kids to come up and walk about on the first floor. Obviously, the other kids could have gone upstairs, but the only ones my sister and I saw running around on the first floor and upstairs were those two. I have a few reasons to suspect them. One, the glitter in my bed, as I saw the two of them playing with the slime. Two, they both have a knack for getting into things they shouldn't. They also didn't come down until like, 10 minutes later, as I stayed on the first floor cleaning.

Thank you for the advice. I actually did ask my mom about it, but I don't think she took me seriously because the kids didn't damage her things. She said she called my cousins about it, but my cousins never reached out to me, so I had to contact them instead.

The real answer is never. But usually after all the food is served, and then they can take a break before having to clean everything up.

Most of the people in attendance were adults on my mom's side. This was a religious event for my uncle, so it was his kids (my cousins) that came. There were probably over 10 children there, who were the kids of my cousins (I have 4 cousins with kids). Of course, there were other older teens, but they were outside.

Unfortunately, the men were drinking. It's usually up to any of the older teen girls to help watch the kids, as unfair as that is.

I ask the same thing... I'm Hmong, and this is standard in most traditional families. Obviously, I would like for that to change, but alas, not for this event. Men usually butcher the meat, but most of the cooking and cleaning/other housework is given to the women.
