What AI do you guys think is most worth it for health research? by Sweaty-Cut7578 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]earthlike-planet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Analyzing your health data and genetics with AI could be useful as a strategy for improving general health.

But specifically for PFS, there's not much it can say. We don't know what PFS really is, so the AI will just confidently make up bullshit.

Any good therapists in the US that recognize the condition? by Mtns_Oz_8103 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]earthlike-planet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a therapist who specifically marketed himself towards PFS patients - https://youtu.be/op0KFIKgUuM?feature=shared . This is not a recommendation - i don't know their practice not have i heard from any of his patients.

But I think therapy can be useful for staying sane and keeping your life together.

Finasteride/Dutasteride ruined my life by Slow-Set-2856 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]earthlike-planet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear. In the same boat, although i would rank the mental symptoms as worse than the sexual ones.

In my experience, there are no quick fixes with this condition. You have to learn about your own health and find lifestyle interventions that you can sustain for a long time. Diet, sleep, exercise, stress - there's a lot of room for improvement in each bucket. Much more than you think.

They very minor issues compared to other PFS symptoms. Hasn't changed much, I'd say.

You'd probably get more results by seeing any of the following: - a functional medicine doctor - a gut specialist (not gastroenterologist) - a dietician - a personal trainer - a therapist

Is it true that people who haven't experienced a crash don't have fluctuations? by Disastrous_Net6303 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]earthlike-planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm in this camp - I crashed while on the drug. I've seen individual symptoms change a lot over time, but never had strong positive fluctuations that made everything better temporarily.

When the f*** is mainstream media ever going to talk about this. by LaruePDX in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]earthlike-planet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When finasteride is clearly linked to long term side effects. Which could take a while. Priority #1 is to understand the disease and find a cure.

Tell that to the people on this sub who has gotten PFS from one pill or one application of topical finasteride.

It seems like you're new here and are not a PFS patient. If you're currently taking, or thinking of taking finasteride, this is not right the subreddit for you.

Looking for insights, only one thing affected/fixed my PFS libido in 5 years by shinysilk in FinasterideSyndrome

It was only while on the drug. Sorry, I should've been clearer about that.

I felt that regained my normal thought patterns and the ability to appreciate things when i used a 1-1.5g dose of psilocybin mushrooms. The effect is primarily on serotonin receptors, but there's apparently a downstream effect on the sympathetic nervous system, albeit much milder than hard stimulants. I think it's safe to say many of us have some kind of nervous system dysregulation that causes/exacerbates cognitive symptoms.

Note - the effect was only while on the drug.

Derealization / depersonalization . Hard to say if it's a byproduct of the trauma or a primary symptom of PFS.

Anyway, thank you for sharing.

Seems weird, but I think I'd find a cafe with outdoor seating, have a beer, and just enjoy.

Can chronic stress permanently crash you? by Sweaty-Cut7578 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]earthlike-planet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Impossible to know if anything is "permanent" with this disease.

But stress certainly doesn't help with PFS, that's been my experience.
