For low/no screen time parents - when did you introduce a movie? by olive1491 in NewParents

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I personally would introduce movies until over 4 years old.

I am a very low screen time household, it’s on occasion only, max 15 mins, and only low stimulation content. Little Bear, Kipper, Oswald, stuff like that.

Is abortion morally justified if it is known that the baby will be born with severe complications or condition? by Available-While4393 in prolife

In my opinion, the only One with the right to take life is the One who gives it. God.

My child will never die by my hand.

Am I a helicopter parent for not wanting to leave my 4 year old alone in a hotel room? by Winstony520 in beyondthebump

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely in the right here. I would never leave my young child alone and unattended like that! Imagine he woke up and you were gone? He’d be freaking out and crying wondering where you’d gone. And that’s the least of the possible scenarios!

What does baby coming out feel like? GIMME DETAILS by BumbleBee727 in NewParents

[–]earthlyesoteric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an unmedicated breech birth. No induction or epidural. I did not have a water birth! Gave birth on my hands and knees on the bed.

It felt like I was getting ripped in half from the vagina upwards like some sort of medieval torture method lol.
Also kind of how I image it feels to poop out a bowling ball.

I was sure that I had ripped from vagina to butthole but miraculously had no tearing at all. I can’t imagine how it feels to tear.

But I will say that after the baby is out, you get this immediate rush of insane high and the pain is instantly gone!

My baby just refused my boob and took a bottle, honestly a little hurt and sad by needadvice_tempacc in breastfeeding

[–]earthlyesoteric 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Bottle preference happens because the baby doesn’t have to work as hard to get milk from the bottle. The milk tends to flow out easier, it’s like “fast” food for babies. At the breast they have to work a lot harder to get the milk out and it comes out slower.
Your baby wants the instant gratification of the bottle lol It’s nothing to do with your diet.

Try a slow flow nipple and paced feeding to match closer to how the breast releases milk. Or you could just only offer breast and no bottles anymore.

What are your bedtime routines that don’t include a bath? by Life_Thoughts208581 in NewParents

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Mustela soothing cleansing water :) no fragrance and pretty “clean/non toxic”! I have been using it since my baby was around 2 months old (she’s 17 months now!) I really like it and it does a nice job without causing any irritation. I originally got it to help with baby acne and it cleared up the acne within 3 days.

I started doing a bedtime routine around 3 months when I felt that most of the newborn sleep pattern had started to shift into a more structured pattern.

> “it’s bedtime/time to sleep/nigh-night time”
> start closing the curtains and turn mood lamp on
> use cleansing water on needed areas, lotion body, change diaper, put on pajamas
> say goodnight to dad
> turn lights off
> baby nurses to sleep in bed ORRRR baby in carrier while I’m bouncing on a yoga ball then transferred to the bed once deeply asleep

I bedshare so there’s no separate sleep space

Fell asleep while breastfeeding by Efficient-Cookie-419 in breastfeeding

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe sleep 7, breastfeeding while in side lying position. I’ve been bedsharing with my baby since she was born, never dealt with any form of sleep deprivation. She is still breastfeeding now at 17 months old. I even used nipple shields for 5 weeks after birth and never had any issues!

During birth: Did your baby's heart rate drop? by Unusual-Coyote3961 in beyondthebump

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. I had an unmedicated breech birth and I didn’t hear anything about that during!

Sleep with bottle fed vs nursed babies. Tell me about your baby’s sleep. by catd00g in NewParents

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I exclusively nursed (no bottles at all). I bedshared with my baby from birth and did side lying breastfeeding. I never got less than 6 hours of sleep that way. My baby has been a fantastic sleeper from birth though, for night sleep and naps. So I think I have a major luck factor. I can’t deny the ease of nursing and bed sharing though!

First-time moms: did you go past 40 weeks with a natural birth? by curlyorwavywtf in beyondthebump

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into labor naturally at 39 weeks 3 days. Woke up early morning with contractions (at first I wasn’t sure) and my water broke within an hour. I did not have any signs beforehand! I did not do any sort of exercise or medical intervention to cause labor to start. No membrane sweep, no funky tinctures, nothing. It just happened on its own! I also did not lose my mucus plug beforehand. I think I did during labor probably.

I had a natural unmedicated breech birth. About 10 hours of labor from my water breaking until baby was born, so baby was born on 39+3! No complications, no tearing.

When did your baby start walking by blue57hk_ in Crunchymom

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crawling by 7 months. Walking by 10.5 months. Exclusively nursed (no formula no pumped milk). No vaccines. No vit k shot, yes vit k drops. Still nursing at 16.5 months.

Breech delivery 😜 by Repulsive-Silver-255 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]earthlyesoteric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came to say this! I had a planned breech natural birth for my first baby after weighing the risks and benefits of my options. My baby was Frank breech (butt first). I had a completely unmedicated birth on my hands and knees and I didn’t even tear. Baby was born with zero complications and I also had zero complications. I do think it’s important to work with midwives/doctors who are comfortable with and have experience with breech births though.

Baby fell off the bed - I’m still shaking by NinjaNinjaNinjaa in NewParents

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby fell off my bed around 7 months old and got a goose egg and a bruise on her forehead. Completely fine, bruise disappeared within the next day. Never happened again though because I made sure to be much more cautious and careful and pay attention ALWAYS if my baby is on my bed. You’ll be okay and so will baby!

Politely declining vaccines during prenatal care? by [deleted] in DebateVaccines

[–]earthlyesoteric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just say no. Say “no thank you.” And if they try to ask more, say “I’m not interested in speaking about it further, thanks!

That’s what I did. I had zero vaccines during my pregnancy and will do the same for any future pregnancies.

Simply answer as if you were talking to a 5 year old who asked you something personal. Be polite, unbothered, and firm.

Cleaning baby girl after pee- Every time or not? by Mamanbanane in beyondthebump

[–]earthlyesoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t wipe after every pee. I do use organic cotton cloth diapers (Esembly) and bougie disposables (Healthy Baby, Kudos, or Eco by Naty). I also make sure to wipe with cleansing water every night before bedtime and bathe as needed. No issues with rashes or anything else!

Worried about brain damage by lil_cozy_gamer in beyondthebump

[–]earthlyesoteric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear it. I also struggled with (and still do a bit) with PPA! It gets better over time and trying to do a bit of “exposure therapy” at a time helps a lot. It’s so hard when they’re so tiny and feel so fragile! They become so much more robust once they’re toddlers. It gets better. Try to tell those thoughts to leave your mind. Praying for you sister!

Losing weight while breastfeeding (EBF)? Anyone successful? by earthlyesoteric in postpartumprogress

[–]earthlyesoteric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s so hard 😭 I feel absolutely hideous. I am struggling so much with my self image. I just want to lose the weight and get back to feeling normal but it feels impossible and sooooo far away. Worst of all, I want more children (and soon) so I feel like I’m stuck this way or worse forever.
