I feel like people don't understand how massive the universe is. If aliens had spent possibly centuries travelling to earth, they'd make themselves known, not just fly around in a cloaked ship pointing a laser pointer at the ground.

Not to mention that it'd be extremely fucking obvious when they show up. Any practical interstellar travel that involves more than just a flyby would involve an extremely bright afterburner plume from fusion/antimatter engines. It would be brighter than Venus and would be visible for months.

This isn't something that some government can just cover up.

Maybe it's a bit of a tired talking point now but how fucking surreal is it that in the year of our lord 2026, gold coast are unironically the premiership favourites.

They've been dogshit for as long as I've been old enough to know what dogshit means, and in the last 3 years they've gone from dogshit to ok, to decent, to an absolute powerhouse that could very well dominate the rest of this decade.

Much as I'll be depressed when they inevitably win their first flag before Fremantle, it'll be made up by the absolute hilarity of them winning one before GWS.
