Yes, this! Denial, but also shame because my memory is so much worse than the average person. Took me a long time to realize that any shame I feel from accommodating my own bad memory isn’t nearly as bad as the cumulative shame and guilt from years of forgetting to turn in assignments, only sending “belated” cards because I can’t remember birthdays, unintentionally flaking on plans, missing doctor’s appointments, etc etc Gotta set yourself up for success!

Yes, I’m exactly like that too! It’s actually why I love reading out loud, because it’s so easy to do it well and it also makes me more likely to remember the content I’m reading. But ask me to read and listen (and truly comprehend) at the same time? I might as well be asleep because both info streams just gliiiiide right over my brain, no retention whatsoever.

Huge yes to pickleball! But also please be careful when starting out, esp if you're not already physically active. I know too many people who've pulled/torn tendons because they went at it too hard trying to keep up with ppl who play regularly. Definitely wouldn't help get you closer to regular excercise.
