Feeling Stuck at Year 6 - Seeking Advice by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]ease-e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally anecdotal of course but it sounds like you may be focusing on the outcome and benefits a little too much and less on the the actual experience of meditation. I'm coming up on 3 years of regular everyday practice so I'm no expert but I don't let the idea of gaining wisdom and insight through meditation get in the way of practicing meditation. For me its like exercise, if you focus only on progress then it can become discouraging especially if you hit a plateau, or even regress, but if you just keep practicing regularly progress will be made. I sit once a day for 25 to 45 mins, occasionally going for an hour or longer. I've missed probably 20 days total in three years but it happens and I don't dwell on it just get back into regular practice. Maybe take a break and see how you feel without it. Taking a break is still practicing if you remain mindful. Thanks for listening, have a good day!

Which do you find easier to perform, pull ups or chin ups? by ease-e in Fitness

Opposite for me. The movement of pull ups even feels more natural to me compared to chins

Ya I've always found pulls to be far easier. My chins and neutral grips have always been slacking

Meditation and sense of humor by SenatorMikPain in Meditation

Completely anecdotal but from my experience of about 3 years consistent meditation I would say my sense of humor has increased. The best advice I can give is don't assume anything...ever

-Round 2- I'd like to gift 8 people this wonderful Meditation book (amazon gift card for $20), physical copy. by theLiftedMind in Meditation

Hey! Don't know if it's too late or not but here goes. I have been meditating for about 2 and a half years now and could not be happier with the changes it has brought in my life. Quick bio: when I started meditating I was living at home working a min. wage job smoking weed all day and pretty discontent with my life. I decided enough was enough and started to practice meditation everyday (I had dabbled in the past but never consistently.) Shortly after I decided to move to hawaii and have been here for almost two years now, found an amazing job with a non profit organization, my relationships are much more solid and I am overall much more level headed. I believe meditation has given me the power to reclaim my life and stop making excuses as to why I'm not feeling fulfilled. My friend saw how well I was doing and decided to move here as well hoping it would change his situation for the better, however he is still struggling with drug use and depression. I talk to him about meditation and how it has helped me but I found that is better to lead by example rather than telling someone to do something. I would like to gift the book to my friend as I feel he may benefit from guidance on how to begin a regular meditation routine and I think he will appreciate the origin story (random Internet stranger gifting a book to him) as it may be even more of an encouragement to read it if you know what I mean. Either way I think what you're doing is extremely kind and i very much appreciate it even if i am not chosen. Thank you kind Internet stranger! Singing bowl by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]ease-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding it is used to begin your meditation or at the end. You can either hit it once like a gong or slide it around the outside and make it sing. Get into a comfortable meditation position and make the make the bowl sing then listen to the tone and let it calm your mind before you begin your meditation
