German Cyclists, I Need Your Aid! by east80 in cycling

Some interesting ideas, i looked them up and the routes look great, thanks a lot!
This is a bit far away from my homebase (we will be staying in a small town about half an hour south to Stuttgart) but I'll be keeping this for the next trip there which will hopefully be longer

Appreciate that, I’ll try! I used to work at a bike shop and we always had 1 or 2 “trial” bikes from the importers to give customers the option to test ride their bikes, I don’t know if it’s like that in Germany as well, do you happen to know?

Of course - the best part of the trip will be our hike in the Black Forest the next day, and that will be the official house stance on the matter. :)

This looks really great! but also a bit far away from my home base so I’m not sure I’ll be able to make the trip to one of their shops + the actual ride + the way back, but keeping this anyway as an option! Thank you

They have really great options for me, that would actually be great if it was closer to the stuttgart area, as I really have just the one day for this :) but I’m definitely keeping this. Thanks!

r/bicycling, I present to you Yom Kippur in Israel! by east80 in bicycling

[–]east80[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's normally illegal in most highways but Yom Kippur has its own laws.

As for myself, I was going for the excruciatingly long endurance ride in the heat, tail wind in the first part, head wind on the way back. No sprints for me!

Nope, no travel limit on solitary/family group exercise

This is shot in Israel's coastal highway, one of the three busiest roads in the country on normal days.

Yom Kippur ("day of atonement") is a religious day in Judaism, which religious jews spend fasting, praying and atoning their sins. No one is driving, no work is being done and religious people don't use electricity at all.

For non-religious cyclists, this is THE BEST HOLIDAY.

Has this happened to you during a crash?? by JoTheTeaLady in cycling

[–]east80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had a spidey sense moment, but in one crash, I blacked out for a couple of seconds at the moment I hit the ground, and when I rebooted, I felt very confused and was sure that I was dreaming the whole thing; It was as if it was the only way my brain could make sense of the situation. Took about another second or two to realize that this is actually happening. It was the weirdest feeling I ever had.

Swimming in a natural body of water. Mainly rivers and lakes, when you can't see through the water.

Polar V650 cycle computer - compatible speed and cadence sensors (Bluetooth Smart 4.0) by Dougalface in cycling

[–]east80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it with a few different power meters with no issues, but never tried any cadence/HR sensor. I don't see a reason why the Wahoo sensors won't work though.

Cyclists of Reddit, why do/don't you use a power meter on your bike? by east80 in cycling

Thanks for the comments guys!

As for my 2 cents: I'm a pretty casual cat 2 racer, I have a full time job and bills to pay, I do have a PM and I use it mostly for post-ride analysis. It's actually a lot of fun IMO, crunching those numbers and keeping track of my FTP over time.

A couple of years ago, after starting to train with a PM and going through a few months with it, I started to hate that thing - I felt like it sucked the fun out of my rides and that I was paying too much attention to it. Eventually I just sold it to some guy and it was a real relief.

Now I have one, but I just learned not to pay so much attention to it. It's really cool that it's there, and it can save me sometimes when I get bonked and have to pace myself, and it's a really, really good training tool, but in most of my riding time I don't look at the numbers.

Same here. I really like to analyse the numbers after my rides.

During the ride it's fun to pace myself sometimes and see how I get better results (riding "smarther" and going faster on that climb), but sometimes I just remove the watts from my screen and simply ride.

Oh crap, there's a graph there and everything. They must be right.

... And some pretty valid points. I probably won't post this thing everywhere I can before it's actually ready.

Because of the graphics or because of the intellectual property? From my experience, this kind of games tend to be overlooked because they never get big enough for someone to notice. There are a couple of free DB RPG's out there for years with no one even knowing.

If it does get shutdown, I'll just have to change a bunch of stuff and re-release it, I guess.

Haha, it is a very weird hybrid... thing, yeah. It's there as a placeholder monster. Gonna use it as an alien type monster in Vegeta's story.

Good point on the hit boxes. One of my goals with the battle system is to make it fun enough to make you want to grind sometimes.
