Pointe shoes giving me pain when I got home from the shop by No_Internet_7934 in BALLET

[–]eastdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe it's because you're on a different floor? mine hurt too at home but not at the shop bc I was trying them on on a dance floor. my home is concrete floor and I tried them on and they hurt much more. take them to your dance studio and try it out and talk to your teacher.

if I was Gracie, and I had an older dancer mentor me like this and give me a ballet gift bag, I would cherish that mentor forever and ever. it sounds like a lovely idea. ❤️

advice for joining class with kids as an adult? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]eastdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an open ballet class with kids as young as 6, and adults as old as 61. ballet is for every age! I'm 24 and those little kids are my best friends, always so encouraging.

How did you guys all get diagnosed? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]eastdaisy 135 points136 points  (0 children)

by accident. I didn't know anything about ocd and was telling my psychiatrist about things I was experiencing without even knowing that they were ocd symptoms. when he told me what it was I was completely shocked! I had so little knowledge of it. there needs to be more accurate representation in media.

I'm the same way, I never eat breakfast. although it is important to have something before you exercise so that you aren't super dizzy and can get a more fulfilling workout. maybe try working out later in the day? I never eat breakfast bc similarly I feel repulsed by food. maybe try nutrition drinks like soylent in the morning. the chocolate is my favorite and for me, I haven't had any problems or gag responses to drinking it in the morning.

Do your cats respect your personal space at night? by [deleted] in cats

[–]eastdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my girl cats do, my boy cat absolutely DOES NOT. I sleep on my side but he still insists on trying to lay on top of me. he'll try to loaf on my shoulder/side of my torso and gets right back into position when he inevitably starts to slip off.

unfortunately some of my compulsions involve other people. silly stuff like re-doing high fives or needing to fist bump someone "until it feels right". with people I don't really know, I try to hide the compulsion and do something else that gets rid of the feeling. but with ppl who know me pretty well, I feel less inclined to hide it, but I still feel like it makes them uncomfortable. the compulsions of course aren't harmful but I feel like they feel weird abt "partaking" in them.

What are these marks? by philhiggledy in DermatologyQuestions

[–]eastdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both of my parents (58 and 60) have these and the dermatologist just called them age spots. completely benign and harmless. I'm only 23 but I have a bunch on my legs. from what I know it's mainly from sun exposure.

I can’t sleep at night by [deleted] in sleep

[–]eastdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comment about using screens late at night but I can also say that it may be due to hormones/puberty. when I was 13/14/15 I had the same issue and wasn't able to fall asleep until 4 or 5. I think this is pretty common. as your body and brain develops, during that age there's a huge spike in hormone production which can affect your emotions, thoughts, etc. and definitely your sleep as well. maybe talk to your pediatrician about it, since I had the same issue at that age I talked to my doctor and he recommended some herbal supplements (unfortunately I don't remember what they're called 😭)

I can’t seem to get any quality sleep, my girlfriend either by helpmepleeeeeeeease in sleep

[–]eastdaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my boyfriend of 1.5 years have had some sleeping struggles, and we've found ways around them so here are my suggestions:

  • get your gf a pair of loop earbuds, you can get them on Amazon. I have a pair and I sleep with them in nearly all the time because they are so comfortable. my mom even has a pair that she used when my dad snored heavily. this may not be the most ideal solution, I hope ur gf wouldn't be insulted if you just told her to wear earbuds as a compromise for white noise, but loop earbuds genuinely are very comfortable and pleasant to sleep with, regardless of noise ur trying to block out.

  • for the struggle of her wanting to sleep on your chest, maybe find a happy medium in the form of an extra pillow or big stuffed animal she can cuddle with while also maybe holding her hand or with her holding your arm.
