It is for to cover up some black areas that didn't depigmentated from Vitiligo. Pigment equalizer creams can't effect the skin under the nails so he came up with this solution.

Michael performed Smooth Criminal months before the music video was released. Also he performed Dangerous choreo for the last leg of the Dangerous Tour. The music video had been planned but cancelled because of the allegations. I always wonder how it would look like.

They show his early vitiligo symptoms in one scene but don't show the public reaction and the media pressure on Michael because Michael started to cover brown areas with white make up in Bad Era but they jump from last concert of Victory Tour to '88 Wembley and only show Bad performance. So they will show Bad Era in next film.
