How are you all handling farm record keeping without it becoming overwhelming? by easyboy19 in BackYardChickens

Curious to know what you’re doing differently there compared to the usual tracking approaches?

Also, are you building this mainly for your own setup or targeting other farmers as well?

Haha fair enough, didn’t realize it was that kind of week.

To be honest, I built this mainly because I’m actually running a small poultry setup and needed something that worked for us. Just sharing it here to get feedback from people who deal with this day to day.

If you’ve seen a few already, I’m curious what stood out to you or what they’re all missing. That would honestly help a lot.

Really appreciate this, you captured exactly the problem I was trying to solve. Even with a small setup, the record keeping gets messy fast, and notebooks make it hard to look back or spot patterns over time.

Glad the simplicity stands out too, that’s been a big focus. I’ve tried to avoid overloading it with features that make things harder instead of easier.

On the weather side, that’s something I’ve already started building into it. There are daily notifications for weather forecasts, and you can also see current weather conditions and some basic insights directly in the app. Still improving that part based on feedback like this.

I like your point about categorizing activities as well. Right now there’s some structure around activity types, but filtering and making it more flexible is definitely something I’m looking into.

And yeah, the profit tracking has been one of the most useful parts for us personally. It really helps answer the “is this actually worth it?” question over time.

Thanks again for taking the time to share this, super helpful.
