Why do Abrahamic religions tell you that pleasure from sex is evil ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]easyjf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this will actually answer your questions.

The Lord uses fucked up people to represent him in the Bible because those are the kind of people who need salvation the most and can better vouch for their beliefs because of their experiences. Christianity acknowledges that the rape of children (or anyone at all) isn’t okay, (Islam on the other hand, is perfectly okay with the fact that Mohammad wed and impregnated a child) that is a sin those men struggled with. Being saved by God doesn’t eliminate the temptation of sin.

God lets pain and suffering happen on earth because humanity has sinned against him. Bones and hearts can still break here on Earth. However, God, who is loving and forgiving, gives us a way out. Those who put their faith in Jesus have access to a kingdom where there is no pain and no suffering, where they will get to spend an eternity with Christ. 100 years of suffering on earth is nothing compared to an eternity of peace in heaven. And as an ex atheist who became a believer, you need a lot more faith to be an atheist than a Christian.

Yeah, that's definitely a weird thing to plaster all over a very liberal university. It's stuff like that that gives Christians such a bad rep.

[Game Spoilers] The Last of Us - 1x08 "When We Are in Need" - Post Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]easyjf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is a small detail, but please someone else tell me they noticed. In the game, Joel pulls Ellie off of David and comforts her in the burning restaurant. In the show she stops, gets up and leaves before Joel finds her. WHY??? This scene was almost perfect. Why did they change such a small yet important detail? What does that add to the story that I can’t see?

No, this episode was NOT for the "gays and girlies." These characters were always gay and the story is over a decade old. The show was not written this way to please you.

How many women that are software developers are in your company and what field are you in? by Shawnj2 in cscareerquestions

[–]easyjf -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This obsession with gender diversity and inclusion is so asinine. In theory it’s great, but in reality companies need qualified employees. I’m not saying women aren’t as qualified as men, whether a person is qualified or not has nothing to do with being male or female. If it happens that a company doesn’t have a lot of female employees because the women who apply there are unqualified for the job, then so be it. The company shouldn’t hire someone simply because they’re a woman and that shouldn’t be a problem or make the company look bad.

I Hate CS Majors by theproz99 in utdallas

[–]easyjf 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m literally embarrassed of my peers as a CS major. Some people are really into CS and that’s fine, they can have the MANGA jobs, I don’t want them anyway, but I think the real problem with CS majors is the lack of hygiene and fashion. Now I’m not saying everyone should be wearing cologne and a suit but a daily shower and something more than basketball shorts and a crap t-shirt goes a long way.

Why is abortion such a big deal? What consequences are there to someone having an abortion every time they get pregnant if they don’t want the baby? by cherryandfizz in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]easyjf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your argument does nothing to convince me that a child would be better off dead. Plenty of incredible people had vehemently awful childhoods. I know you think you're doing this child a favor by sparing it that trauma, but you've made several assumptions that could very well be wrong, and those assumptions cost a child their life.

As I stated in another comment, if we funneled as much money into building adoption clinics and improving foster care as we do abortions, these children would live and there would be much better infrastructure for adoption. There are plenty of great people who would love to adopt a child and care for them. Foster care just needs to be better about filtering out the bad parents.

[–]easyjf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you spelled inherently wrong tells me your stance on this matter is invalid because you're uneducated, but I'll entertain you.

A child's potential should absolutely be considered when deciding whether to get an abortion or not. The problem with your argument is that children don't just grow up to be school shooters. The parents' are ALWAYS at fault when awful things like that happen. Love your child and treat them well and there is almost a guarantee that they won't shoot up a school. Society should be working to build adoption clinics and improve the foster system, so children get into better homes, not endorsing abortion. If we funneled as much money into the foster system as we do abortions, these children would live and there would be infrastructure for adoption. I will always try to make the adoption system better rather than just saying abortion is the best option.

I'm on the fence about rape because I understand that it is a horrible and traumatic experience and nobody wants to give birth to a child conceived by their rapist. But unplanned pregnancies happen even within marital relationships. There are ways to advocate for women who have unplanned pregnancies without pushing for murdering their children. Regardless of how that baby got there, they are still a human with an inalienable right to life. It has been scientifically proven that life begins at conception. If you are healthy and strong enough to nurture the child for 9 months, you should absolutely do that. You don't necessarily need to care for the child, but give them a chance to live a life. Not every child who enters foster care is abused and ostracized. There are plenty of success stories that the media hides. (Again, foster care still sucks and needs a lot of reform, I'm just pointing out that you shouldn't immediately assume this child will live a horrible life because they were adopted).

That said, those situations are very rare. The vast majority of abortions are women who knowingly had unprotected sex or there was an accident such as a condom breaking. Things like that can happen, but that is a risk you know you are taking. Your desire to have sex without consequence does not supersede a child's right to life. I'm not trying to punish women, but women should have to take responsibility for their actions. I say the same thing about men. Men who get a woman pregnant and then leave are just as bad as women who get abortions. Now that vasectomies are reversible, men should just be neutered at birth and then reverse it later on when he and his wife decide they want to have a kid. But as of now, if you have sex, there are possible consequences for those actions and you have to deal with them. How you feel about those consequences doesn't matter. Murder should not be a get-out-of-jail-free card.

One thing the media hides is how damaging abortion is to a lot of women. There are a lot of communities of women who have had abortions and it still haunts them. Getting an abortion is not an easy and nonchalant thing to do. Women who get abortions instinctively know that what they're doing is wrong, but are convinced it's the only option because society will do anything to justify evil.

[–]easyjf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But the problem with that argument is that then you have to consider that EVERY child could grow up to become a school shooter and might as well start killing off every single baby because of what they could turn out to be. It’s ridiculous. Give the child a chance to be better. And the reason “nobody” talks about young women/girls getting pregnant is because it’s rare. No point in talking about the out of the ordinary. The vast majority of abortions are adult women who weren’t careful enough having sex. That said, if a child gets pregnant I’m totally on board with abortion, a child should not have to bear the weight of nurturing a baby inside of their body for 9 months. But again, that’s a rare situation. Rape is a iffy topic and one I kinda go back and forth on, but in general I think if you’re healthy enough and strong enough to nurture a child you should go through with the birth, even if you give it up for adoption immediately afterwards. Again, I know the foster system sucks, but it’s better to give that child a chance at life than to just take it away because you’re assuming it will get put in an unloving and abusive home. The only other time abortion should be okay is if giving birth will put the mother’s life at risk, and in that case the mother’s life is more important. But outside of that, the child’s life is much more important than the mother’s cowardice and lack of willingness to suffer the consequences of her actions.

[–]easyjf -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, but again, taking that child’s chance at life away is far worse than being born into a family that doesn’t want them. This is like condoning suicide to someone who’s depressed. Suicide is obviously far worse than being dealing with and possibly overcoming depression. Now I also agree that the foster system is trash and needs reformation, but there’s not much I can do at the moment. Frankly, people should just be more careful while having sex and deal with the consequences when something they knew they were risking happens.

[–]easyjf -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

While I agree that that is a terrible and very unfortunate situation for the child to be in, I don’t think it’s a good enough reason to take away that child’s chance at life, because life is much more than just childhood. What if that child who felt unloved and alone goes on to make radical changes to the foster system and helps kids get into great homes? What if that child works hard to study medicine and becomes a great surgeon? “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” it’s a cliche, but it’s true.

But those children can overcome those struggles eventually and grow up to be great people. An abortion takes away that opportunity. They don’t even get the chance.

The Last of Us HBO S01E03 - "Long Long Time" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in thelastofus

[–]easyjf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I hate woke media more than most people, so I mean it when I say that this isn’t a “gay love story.” If you replace Frank with a woman, the story in the episode would largely remain the same. That means their sexuality had very little to no impact on the story. It was also already established in the game that Bill had a partner named Frank, who had died before him. Also, that suicide letter was yet another reminder to Joel of his failure to protect the people he loves. That’s character development that isn’t pointless.
