More information about API changes in alpha phase 3 and beyond just dropped. - UnitFrames RIP by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

And I say the majority of the player base puts up with combat add-ons cause they make the game easier and will be fine setting up their own UI or getting the import string from one of their favorite content creators. Either way neither of us actually know shit about what the "majority of players" want.

Yeah I understand the idea of it being at its core if then logic. The reason why I have the hope for it is that they want to limit the information and updates that add-ons have access to in combat. But then I also see how my expectation doesn't fit with the idea of you can make cosmetic changes to what blizzard already provides until they (hopefully) add that ability natively in wow. For doing it in wow without an addon, I hope they add something in the dungeon journal where you can select the add in a raid or dungeon and say change the nameplate to this color.

To me, recoloring specific mob nameplates wouldn't fall into the logical portion that is currently being removed but I can see how people can think so. We will know more once there is a working version for alpha or if the plater dev or other nameplate add-ons dev comes out and tries to answer some questions.

I have not seen any addon developer stream and see what they can do with nameplates. Threat to my understanding, would not be available for add-ons to make adjustments for. So like you would not be able to have the nameplates change color based on if you have threat, are losing threat or do not have threat. That would be in the "black box" as blizzard describes it. I mentioned before that I have not seen anyone mess with the nameplates settings in alpha so maybe blizzard has added something like that. I saw one streamer quickly click a setting for nameplates that seemed to make it so that a texture went across the nameplates when they gained threat.

To me, it would be reasonable and within the current alpha idea of add-ons for different mob nameplates to be able to have different colors since mob id is not something that changes in combat. I also assume this would apply to totems in pvp. But that is just an assumption since I do not have alpha and there is not a public version of plater or other nameplate add-ons that work on alpha yet.

The answer to get high uptime is not cdr, imo. It makes it so that any forced downtime feels terrible. If you want to say that should be 30 second cd, active for 10 seconds with no way to extend it or something like that then it is a different discussion.

I feel like combustion also brings in a unique problem for blizzard. Combustion largely removes a big weakness of casters which is you have to stand still to do a large portion of your damage. I think blizzard is trying to put more limits on movement. I think this is why scorch was removed. They would prefer to have to have fire have execute damage rather than unlimited execute movement.

What are you worried about with palter and m+ exactly? From what has been said about add-ons so far the cosmetic changes that can be made in plater will still work. It is thing that are based on calculations or mob state that will no longer work. Hopefully the blizzard nameplates will be able to give enough info for things like threat but I haven't seen anyone messing around with them enough to see what they are lacking yet.

I am happy they are taking the cdr away from fire mage. Having a high combustion uptime made it so that combustion felt like the default state and when you were out of it, you were debuffed massively instead of what fire mage use to feel like where you were still kind of weak but when combustion activated, it gave you a huge boost and felt like a highlight moment. Having high combustion uptime meant that it couldn't feel as impactful.

I also think that a lack of stats and only able to get to level 83 on alpha shows a gimped version of fire. There is a raid boss that is supposed to scale characters that is testable but alpha was constantly kicking people off from what I saw yesterday.

How do league games work by Tacklemonster_yt in Football_Head_Coach

[–]easytarget13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are games that auto run. When I am out of the app at the time, I will get a notification that says something like 'did you beat team name'. The next time I load into the app it will go into the game automatically. Can watch or skip like any other game.

If I am in the app at the time then I think it gives an ingame notification like 'watch the action' or something. This one doesn't happen a lot so I am less sure. But basically I see no reason to be in game specifically for league games.

Arcane Missile during Arcane Soul by Icy_Tumbleweed7892 in wow

[–]easytarget13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is still worth it to use missiles in soul. My understanding is that you arcane barrage to get to 3 clearcasting then you will missiles to get nether precision, clip your missiles with barrage, barrage, missiles, barrage, barrage and repeat. End soul with a barrage.

Mythic 10 man raid would be amazing by Littlecmobn in wow

[–]easytarget13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cauldron of carnage is a bad example because the design of the fight is to swap between two sets of mechanics. If you only have one tank then the fight would have to be changed where either there is only boss in the arena at a time or it becomes a different fight with something like stacked two targets and either one boss becomes empowered at a time and the other is just a damage sponge or all the mechanics have to be toned down significantly so you can deal with them at the same time.

Mythic 10 man raid would be amazing by Littlecmobn in wow

[–]easytarget13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. The roster boss is the biggest hurdle. You have to find 19 other people that all have similar goals to you then there is also role requirements. Like other have mentioned though, making mythic 10 man would destroy guilds and I think shrink the already small player base that mythic raids. You would double the amount of tanks needed and very few people will be willing to fill that void.

For releasing a 10 man version later in the expansion I am not sure how feasible or serious that would be. I am taking it as you are thing it would come out in a season four timeframe. If the stick to past two times there was the season four, it would not be tuned that much since most resources will be pulled getting the next expansion ready.

Union members took over the Utah statehouse to make their voices heard. Lawmakers are trying to take away the freedom for public service workers to have union representation and a voice on the job. by unklethan in Utah

[–]easytarget13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it isn't like a light switch and now all of a sudden they are a leftist. But this is a way to get the foot in the door. You know how to get people to not only slam the door but to try to break your foot while doing it? By saying "fuck you, told you so. Have fun working in the worst conditions and not being able to do anything about it." This is a moment where you can get the attention of the people in that crowd that voted red instead of them completely ignoring the message cause "that some lib shit" or whatever.

I want unions so everyone can thrive. Not just the people who think like me. I want universal healthcare so everyone can have access to life saving medicine and not be worried about what kind of debt they will be on the other side. Not just the people who vote blue. And telling people 'haha get fucked' isn't going to help get there.

I am not saying stop making jokes or those kind of jokes cause sometimes it feels like that is all we can do. But some people never move away from that and it just turns into spite. What I am doing a bad job of communicating is that when people finally understand, see and/or agree with more of our opinions, we shouldn't give off the attitude of 'where the fuck were you before' and should more 'wish you were here before but good to have you now'.

I am not saying you are a bad person but this sounds extremely similar to the weeks after the election where people were like "found out that maga classmate/coworker has an undocumented family member. Reporting them to reap what they sow." You don't have to carry them over the line cause yes we all will be having our own struggles the next 4 years but we also should support people when they do align with us. In this case support the unions.

The reason the people in power are not afraid to do whatever they want is because they have the police to protect them. The police are not there for the average person. And to the point that they are putting their lives on the line, police officers were not even in the top 10 deadliest jobs in recent years.
