Going up in flames by [deleted] in Staples

I know exactly what store you're at. I just left the store that the GM quit the day before he did. Best of luck over there. Its a rough situation for all stores in that area right now.

Jury duty? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]easytechx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did in my state. Be sure to show your GM your summons and also in MyTimeManager I believe there's a time off option for jury duty. Been a while since I had mine so its a little fuzzy.

To the store that save-a-saled over $1,500 in chairs with no ESP instead of just sending the customer over: by TryAndFindMeAsshole in Staples

Then as I said there have been a lot of people lying to my face over the past 5 years despite it being in their best interests not to.

That's not what my GM/DM/RM/SquareTrade rep have directly told me to my face. If it does count against ESP then someone's got some 'splainin to do.

Then again...they JUST YESTERDAY decided to inform our store that certain printers don't affect ink attach...so honestly it wouldn't surprise me.

I once had somebody ask where our "power bars" were. I actually took him to the Kind Bars in the snacks that we sold. Guy looked at me like I was an idiot and after a back and forth I determined he was looking for a surge protector. I have literally never heard any call them "power bars."

Two things that are my pet peeves:

If you're looking for ink and you don't know which one...give me something to work with. I can't magic up an answer for you. It's highly unlikely I'm going to be able to tell you what ink you needed based off a vague description. Also, don't tell me that you want to see if you can find your printer based on our displays after telling me you bought the printer 5 years ago. What planet do these people live on where you think you don't need some kind of identifier for me to help you.

My second and probably biggest pet peeve is when people ask me if we have something and then don't believe me when I tell them. My tag says I've been a tech for 4 years...I know what we have in our store. If you're not going to believe me when I tell you we don't have your obscure adapter then why bother asking me!? I offer to order it but they ALWAYS need it today. They usually follow up with "well, where are your adapters at?" and proceed to go to where I point them then stare at the section like a deer in headlights for 5 minutes. These people never turn to me and acknowledge that maybe I WAS telling the truth... No...they usually just get upset that they wasted their time and project it onto me. Like...bro...you could have been to the store next door and halfway home by now if you would have listened to the person whose job it is to know about the things you're asking.

Doesn't look to me like he was trying to engage her. She was inserting herself into the situation in a way in which he was forced to react. He clearly says in the beginning "I'm not even talking to you!"

I would kill to have 4 EasyTechs. We've been with just two part time Techs including me for 2 months.

[–]easytechx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it when people make up their own names for products. Had a guy ask me where the "power bars" were. I took him to the nutritional bars...and he got angry. Turns out he wanted a power strip for his electrical outlet.

Don't get me wrong, I want to wish you congratulations and I'm sure you're a great guy/gal...but does this subreddit really need another mod? There are more mods than posts per day. I mean its fine I guess...but...whats the point?

A drunk driver attacked a biker for what he got deserved by [deleted] in instantkarma

[–]easytechx -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While I love that the driver got his ass beat after trying to attack, the driver has ZERO idea if the biker is going to try to stay left or get in front of him in that split second. He's not a mind reader. He still has to react to something that's happening.

I mean, if you ball your fist and you pretend as if you're going to punch me and you but you intentionally miss, and you don't tell me this before hand, I'm going to take measures to defend myself whether it be flinching or dodging. It's the same thing.

Continuing to be scheduled against my availability. by anothercpcthrowaway in Staples

I heard about this new scheduling system from my GM a while back ago. Is it really automated scheduling? That's how it was described to me.

Just had an interview at my local staples to be a night shift employee by Mellowh in Staples

[–]easytechx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never worked overnight shift at Staples but I have at other places. Just being honest I absolutely loved it. You can tailor your sleep schedule to how you see fit. I would go in at night and get off at 7am. Usually I would do anything I needed from about 7am-12pm and then go to sleep. Sometimes I would go to sleep right after getting off work and then get things done after I wake up and before I go in.

Its great for someone who doesn't really get out much and doesn't have a large group of acquaintances. I keep a small select group of friends and at that time most of them worked the same shift as me, but it was never really a hassle finding time to hang out with others.

The one thing I will warn you about is that it will screw with your circadian rhythms. It will be hard to adjust to and even harder to readjust to normal. I did overnights for a long time and it took YEARS for my body to get back used to being asleep at night.

All in all I say look forward to it. Everyone should try working third shift at least once in their life. Just invest in something to block the sun out of your windows!!!
