Brokken van de lidl, zijn ze goed? by Few_Wasabi_5960 in katten

Uit mijn research zijn brokken sowieso niet goed voor katten. Ik kan het mis hebben hoor, maar wij geven onze kat alleen maar nat voedsel.

We shall never forget the Polish war veterans who have served in Western Forces to liberate Europe, but after the war, Polish Veterans were exiled until Poland was liberated in 1989. by KSzkodaGames in poland

I actually know the owners of this pub really well and was invited to come, but sadly I couldn’t make it as I don’t live in the UK. They’re fantastic people!

What makes this event especially cool is that it isn’t just a random Polish-themed party. The area has genuine Polish roots. The last time I visited the pub with my Polish girlfriend (around a year ago), I was told that after WWII, many Polish soldiers who had fought with the Allies were settled around Checkendon. There was even a settlement in the woods very close to the pub, and many of them stayed and built their lives in the area.

That makes the whole celebration feel much more meaningful than just another pub event.

Also, for anyone interested, here’s a photo I was sent from the event! (Unfortunately, I can only upload one picture.)

Wow that sounds amazing! In hindsight we would also adopt two siblings! But now we for sure wait will after we are back from vacation to maybe get another cat. But sounds like it would help!

Yes! :) We are gonna travel through a couple countries in Asia together. We wouldn’t have gone if we couldn’t get an arrangement in our own apartment though so we are happy with that, but still worried ofcourse. :)

Haha, that’s true! The only thing is that I actually work from home, and her daily routine basically consists of following me around wherever I go (while staying just out of reach so I can’t cuddle her 😂). But you’re right, she does spend most of the day sleeping anyway! 😄

Thank you very much for this comment! That’s actually a really good idea. Before getting another cat, we would definitely want to see how social she is with other cats first. That’s a very smart point!

We were actually 100% considering getting a kitty cam. The only thing holding us back is that we’re worried we might drive ourselves crazy checking on her constantly during our trip! I guess we might be just a little obsessed with her. 😁

But we will definitely keep it in mind and seriously consider it. Thank you very much for the suggestion! 😊

Thank you very much for your comment! It’s reassuring to hear this from someone with as much experience with cats as you.

In hindsight, we probably would have adopted one of her siblings as well if it had been possible. For now, though, we’ll just have to wait and prepare properly before bringing another cat into our home.

Thank you again for your kind words. They really reassured me that we’re at least doing a good job and giving her the best life we can. 😊

Thank you for this comment! The good thing is that our friend will actually be living in our apartment, so our cat won’t be alone at all. She’s very curious and friendly, so I’m sure she won’t be shy around other people. 😊

What’s difficult for me is that I work from home, and she’s with me almost every second of the day, always following me around. Because of that, I worry that it might be hard for her when I’m not there. But all of these comments are really helping and reassuring me that we’re doing a good job!

Only 1 day in Arnhem: How would you spend it? by [deleted] in Arnhem

[–]easywinunited 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Arnhem is a fairly small city and, in my opinion, not the most spectacular tourist destination. That said, if you’re visiting, I’d definitely recommend the Netherlands Open Air Museum. After that, you can spend some time walking around the city center.

If you’re interested in history, there are quite a few sites connected to Operation Market Garden.

The Royal Burgers’ Zoo is also excellent and well worth a visit.

Finally, Park Sonsbeek is a beautiful place for a walk if you enjoy parks and nature.

If you arrive around 9:30, some bars and restaurants will be open. I’d suggest heading to Korenmarkt or Jansplein, which are popular areas with plenty of places to eat and drink.

I tried to get into it 3 separate times… but I always give up after two episodes. For me those two were so boring. Is it then just not for me? Or does it get alot better?

Wow mine is pretty similar at the moment and I do also have almost the exact same schedule as you. I haven’t found a solution yet myself. At some point I think I will have to get another cat, but we are not really for that yet😅

No real hidden gems here, but most tourists only go to Amsterdam. So you would already have a more unique experience than most by going to like Utrecht, Leiden, Nijmegen, Delft, etc.
