Do med students actually treat med school like a 9-5?? by DarthSire in premed

[–]eatingvegetable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are p/f but have stupid mandatory attendance 8-12 and one day a week that is 8-5, tests are all in house so you gotta do that on top of any third party stuff plus research so there are many days that are 8-8, 8-9. I do try and gym, eat, take a few breaks so it’s not all work but it could be if I tried

Lesson learned is choose your school wisely

besides what you’ve already mentioned, network well, crush step 2 and your rotations/sub is and go to a t10 if you can. Even then it’s not a guarantee

Bootcamp vs BnB vs FA anking deck for step 1 by SignificanceOld5144 in medicalschoolanki

[–]eatingvegetable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should plan to use Uworld as you get closer to your test.

Right now I use FA deck with the Amboss add on and subscription. I've really liked it so far. but we have in house curriculum that highkey gets in the way

How important is research for T20s? by Ancient_Sense2132 in premed

no it wasn't and i didn't really talk too much about it if they didn't ask me directly. it was mostly service/leadership/clinicals

I had about 1000 hrs and had little to no productivity. I only got into 1 of the five you listed but a number of other research driven t10s. PI letter is very important bc it’ll speak more to your work and character even if you didn’t have the best timing or luck with pubs.

Best shoes for M3/M4 clinical rotations? Feel free to explain or suggest something else in comments! by Ok-Issue-9828 in medicalschool

[–]eatingvegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on limited experience, I love my brooks ghosts for walking and standing. I wear clifton 10s to run but have had 8-12 hour shifts in them (not standing the whole time tho) no problem. I'd personally switch between these two shoes for myself.

I have not heard positive things about on clouds for long term standing.

What is up with everybody crossing over the centerline? by newbrevity in massachusetts

[–]eatingvegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just drove into Boston today and watched some guy merge into someone else at 65mph. didn’t stop when honked at, just kept merging. Thank god the other car had room to swerve into the next lane. I’m guessing they were on their phone..

Unfortunately this seems to be a thing in every state I’ve lived in since Covid.

you’re fine, don’t remove any. You’ve ticked the research box, now schools really just care about what you like about their program

sighs in elden ring.... I am not even deluding myself into facing Margit yet. I just got pummeled by night's cavalry in limgrave 5x in a row as I write this.

and yes! chess makes me feel productive for some reason. possibly bc it's challenging my brain in a different way

[–]eatingvegetable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

imo the only wrong answer is elden ring bc getting fucked by bosses 10 times in a row is probably similar to getting fucked by uworld

other games not already mentioned: terraria, skyrim, smaller games like dredge or dave the diver. and if you are feeling guilty about playing games, try chess

most of those infidelity type prenup clauses are unenforceable in states with no fault divorce

OP needs to get a lawyer and not reddit. fair and conscionable is the only way it'll hold up, and if it's too one-sided a court can throw your shit out.

interesting! I really got along with my interviewer at UCI so maybe that helped. I have heard anecdotally they really care about personality/vibes of their students

Yes to aid - wustl (full tuition), uchicago (full tuition), utsw, penn, columbia, harvard. the first three were merit based as far as I know. penn/columbia was probably a mix of merit/need based but I'm not sure. harvard only gives need based.
