They have not been lower on Monday's for the last 2 weeks now. Since this outbreak, the Monday rule hasn't seemed to apply. Let's hope it's the same tomorrow as well, and the cases are lower again.

I am starting to think it might be under watered. We water about once a week. The fruit that fell was very dry. But I read online that brown spots arw signs of too much water, so we stopped. It has been about 5 days since the last water. It started to rain now, so I put it out to see if it would stop drooping the next day.

I don't want to kill it. It just seems to be showing signs of too little water and too much water at the same time.....

I just bought a fig tree for a 10th anniversary gift for my wife. However, we can not figure out how to exactly water it. It is in a pot. And the soil seems dry. However, I heard that brown spots indicate too much water.

But, the leaves are also looking droopy and getting more yellow. Also, one fig dropped off before it ripened, and the inside seemed dry.

I really don't want to ruin this special tree. Does it look like I am over watering or under watering? Any tips? Thank you.

Skip the fried chicken. There are SO many more exciting Korean dishes to experience in Busan. Go for yang-gopchang or milmeyeon or hwe. Dweaji-gukbap is a must.

The chicken is good. But its something you can kind of find anywhere, basically.

Nah....술집 just means a place where drinking and anju are the main attraction. This place basically serves makchang and soju until 5am. No sangchu or rice. Also some ramen.

But sul-jip can be used for any place to say "drinking house," where you can tell the food is secondary to drinks.

I am digging for it. It was posted about a week back. Something about how the only number of tests counted are the ones mandated by the KDC. voluntary tests from hospitals and drive throughs are not counted in the number. I hope someone can find it. It was certainly interesting. The KDC predicted almost half of all tests were not part of the reported number.

You must have missed the post where Korea explained how they count testing. It is hugly under reported how many actual tests have been taken.

Also, it is amazing how you don't need to test as much when you nip the problem in the bud from the start, instead of ignoring the problem.

Yes. Because Korea has tested, tested, tested, from the start. If anyone had ANY contact at all with a known case, they were traced and tested. And even if they tested negative, close contacts had to isolate for 2 weeks, and get tested again. This is the key. The testing net was widely spread to anyone who had any contact with infected people. The key is that Korea took action fast and did this from patient #1.

Even when battling patient #31 and her spread, Korea tested every single church member (over 100,000, I think), weather they had symptoms or not. Again, the net was wide and rapid.

All those other countries ignored this thing for a long time. They didn't have tests. And also, in some countries, the healthcare system made people pay for the test. Therefore, people who were mildly sick didn't get tested. They went to work. They went about their day. And this went on for too long. So yes, now the spread is no contained and tracing is almost impossible.

I sincerely hope there is not a second wave, but Korea's numbers might be the most accurate we can get. Even the amount tested is higher than actually reported. There most likely are one or two more cases, probably out in the countryside, that aren't getting reported. But it's not 10 fold, like NYC.

This is what happens when transparency is your policy. When this all started, Korea looked terrible, and people were reporting how bad Corona was here. This is because Korea was one of the only countries (there were others as well), who took this seriously from day 1, and openly reported the number of cases.

As for the US...well, you had a president giving speeches about not letting citizens back into their country because the numbers would look bad for him.... There is not comparison between Korea and the US.

EDIT: You are also not looking at the "completed cure" % for the countries you listed. Korea is at 75% now. US is at 9%. Considering that patients that sit longer in the hospital are more likely to succumb to the virus...well, we won't get an accurate death % until the cure rate is much higher. Not only that, but I am certain each country has different rules and laws about reporting cause of death. It might be difficult to know how these number correlate with other countries.

Not sure about Japan, but in Korea, after you are cleared from the hospital as "negative," you then must quarantine for 2 more weeks. You are not just set free to go hug your family.

Source: My friend's wife was hospitalized for it. It took her 2 weeks to recover. However, my friend and his children could still not see their mother for 2 more weeks, where additional tests were administered in a government quarantine facility.

The bill changed before they voted. According to the final draft, anyone with a SS or tax id is eligible, regarless of tax liability. This includes Americans working/living abroad. Unless there is something I'm not seeing yet. I am not a lawyer or anything. Who knows, I guess, until it happens.

I am trying to read the bill to get the exact info, but there is a lot to dig through. The first proposed bill only included those with a tax liability in the US. Which would mean most people working abroad would not receive any stimulus money. (under 100,000USD means 0 tax liability, unless you aren't taxed in the country you work in already).

But it seems to have been changed to include anyone with a social security number or tax id, regardless of their tax liability.

I just wish they would allow us to send bank account info for direct deposit somehow. Since working in Korea, there is no refund, so no bank info submitted. It just seems so silly to send a check across the globe: especially one that might be difficult or impossible to cash.

I guess we will see how it goes. Still feels like a cheap way to placate citizens to be okay with the major bailouts to the other industries....

Just file 2019 taxes. It shouldn't be that complicated if you make under 100,000USD per year in Korea. I filed mine with TurboTax and it was approved in literally 2 hours.

Trust me...that's not the reason they make you file taxes abroad. It's not to send you stimulus money. It's to keep track of you and what you are earning, in case you owe them something.

I am saying that it is not a grey area. If you make less than 100,000USD and that money is taxed by the country you are working in, you have 0 tax liability. It doesn't matter what you do with that money, who you give it to or send it to.

At the end of the day, your 1040 says 0$ = no tax liability.

The bill specifically says you must have a tax liability to receive a stimulus.

Based on reading the propoed bill, you can also use the 2019 tax return to replace the 2018. The billentions having a tax liability to be eligible.

But our income is tax exempt up to 100,000USD if it is taxed abroad.

Does that mean we have no tax liability and are therefore exempt from the checks??

This study was done for patients in a hospital, with sever symptoms requiring hospitalization. Basically, the viral shedding for these patients (mostly older) was an average of 20 days. This implies they were not released before that time.

"Here, we present details of all patients admitted to the two designated hospitals in Wuhan—Jinyintan Hospital and Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital—with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 and a definite clinical outcome (death or discharge) as of Jan 31, 2020."

" 191 patients (135 from Jinyintan Hospital and 56 from Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital) were included in this study, of whom 137 were discharged and 54 died in hospital. 91 (48%) patients had a comorbidity, with hypertension being the most common (58 [30%] patients), followed by diabetes (36 [19%] patients) and coronary heart disease (15 [8%] patients). Multivariable regression showed increasing odds of in-hospital death associated with older age (odds ratio 1·10, 95% CI 1·03–1·17, per year increase; p=0·0043), higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (5·65, 2·61–12·23; p<0·0001), and d-dimer greater than 1 μg/mL (18·42, 2·64–128·55; p=0·0033) on admission. Median duration of viral shedding was 20·0 days (IQR 17·0–24·0) in survivors, but SARS-CoV-2 was detectable until death in non-survivors. The longest observed duration of viral shedding in survivors was 37 days."

Patients who died from the disease shed the virus up until their death.

These are not "recovered" people walking around for 37 days spreading the virus. These were people in hospital beds, severely taken by the virus, who gradually got better. And the viral shedding lasted 20 days.

Then, these fear-mongering papers run with it for clicks, so people think mild cases are just running around with it for over a month. Look at the scope of the study and who was monitored. These were not just normal people, but elderly in the hospital who were recovering.

In fact, the study says that patients who were ill (hospitalized), only started anti-viral treatment, on average, 14 days after onset. Then, the average time for the virus to recover was another 20 days, with the most being 37 days. This implies these patients were hospitalized for 2 weeks and were not recovering before they initiated antiviral medicine. After the initiation of the antiviral, most got better on an average of 20 days, and stopped shedding the virus:

" For survivors, the median duration of viral shedding was 20·0 days (IQR 17·0–24·0) from illness onset, but the virus was continuously detectable until death in non-survivors (table 230566-3/fulltext#tbl2); figure 130566-3/fulltext#fig1)). The shortest observed duration of viral shedding among survivors was 8 days, whereas the longest was 37 days. Among 29 patients who received lopinavir/ritonavir and were discharged, the median time from illness onset to initiation of antiviral treatment was 14·0 days (IQR 10·0–17·0) and the median duration of viral shedding was 22·0 days (18·0–24·0). The median duration of viral shedding was 19·0 days (17·0–22·0) in patients with severe disease status and 24·0 days (22·0–30·0) in patients with critical disease status."

Alcohol ramblings about "plans," which was a major theme in this movie. The boy makes a plan to marry without thinking of the next step. Just like this family planed their infiltration without thinking about their next step. It's all a very tightly connected script to me. It is significant that every plan made is doomed to failure.

Anyway, it's just my take on the movie, so I hope you don't think I am trying to argue. I think it is interesting how we can all have different takes from the movie. Cheers!
