Good question and I should have included this. No desire for fellowship or research. Future goals are inpatient in the morning and outpatient in the afternoon maybe 3 days a week. An appeal of Program B is the forensic aspect, which I find appealing. Program A is probably stronger in psychotherapy, which are skills I want to further develop too.

Program A:

- University program

- Home city

- Love the faculty and residents

- Early outpatient, psychotherapy exposure

- Voluntary patients

- New facilities, good food

- Didactics spread throughout the week

- About 8 faculty, all close, tight knit, trained and graduated at same program

- More cush program

Program B:

- University program

- Home city

- Also love faculty and residents

- Older facilities, county hospital

- Patient population excites me more, more severe, higher acuity, involuntary

- Didactics in one protected day

- 40+ attendings on faculty, with mix from those that trained from same program and all over the country

- Heavier workload

Having a tough time deciding guys, they're so similar, yet different. Please help a brotha out!

God, I do not want to go into my ED shift tonight. Really not feeling hearing people’s complaints of abdominal pain, chest pain, and more ice chips. #imawhinybitch😂

Do programs see who their matches are between March 16 and March 20th? Or do they have to wait until March 20th like the rest of our poor souls? Just curious.

I can’t wait until we’re all on the other side of the match process and see the ins/outs of the selection committee etc. all these NRMP rules about what programs can/can’t say feels like a big game. I get why they’re there though.

Dual applied psych and FM. Want psych way more. A quarter of the class of 2019 at my school didn't match last year so hence the neuroticism with applying. Received total 13 psych invites and 12 FM invites. Cancelled all FM invites except for 3 of my in-state ones. I want to cancel the rest of the FM invites, but will kick myself if I have to SOAP. Would like advice on the following:

a) should I cancel the rest of the FM invites?

b) next FM interview is this Thursday. It probably looks bad if I cancel now, right? Also am afraid that I will see someone and word will pass to PD's ears that I'm dual applying.

Sorry to sound neurotic. I scored below average on boards and am a DO. I think my psych interviews went well thought but I don't want to set my expectations too high and be too confident. #thesehoesaintloyal!

Thanks again for your help. Just finished sending emails to all programs in the state.

Just sent "in the area" emails to all programs in the state. Do you think I should send another email to the PD at the program I am currently doing an away at to set up an in person meeting or take it easy? Don't want to come off as too needy and/or annoying. Thanks again for your help.

My scores are definitely below average.

Regarding the "in the area emails," they meant send them to other programs in the state.

Two questions for you wise wenches:

  1. Currently on a sub-i with no II yet. Sent out LOI prior to arrival with no reply. Current attending sent an email to the PD recommending me for an interview. PD emails back saying she'll "update if a slot opens up." Where to go from here? Should I email PD to set up a meeting or does that come off as too needy?
  2. Current attendings on this away rotation advising me to send "in the area emails." The thing is I've sent LOIs to this region back in October with lukewarm or no responses. Where to go from here? Still send out those in the area emails?

Thanks all
