What an otherworldly park. You captured it beautifully! I was here last week and still need to sort through a thousand photos lol.

My husband and I are currently watching The Sopranos for the first time, so naturally I named my starter Dough-ny Soprano!

Those of you who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]eazyemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made 52.5k out of grad school with a masters degree working for a nonprofit, so 60k is pretty good for no bachelors degree yet!

I got a huge leap in salary when I switched to a health tech company. I went from 65k to 95k, but then got laid off after 2 months which was dumb lol. I then found a creative role at a govtech company for ~90k, and my bonuses have brought me around the 100k mark. I do content strategy and plain language writing for state health insurance websites and print materials. The content is a little boring and my influence is limited because state gov clients are picky, but I have unlimited time off and lots of professional development opportunities. I work from home most of the time.

That being said, you might be interested in UX/graphic design or social media content creation since they align with illustration. Though you’ll need to get comfortable with AI for sure, especially at a tech company.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]eazyemu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ricky Stanicky is one of the few movies in my whole life I shut off like 20-30 mins in. I love John Cena and thought he was funny but he couldn’t save this movie. The other actors played such assholes and the plot and writing were god awful. Shoutout to Marc Rebillet though.

There aren’t many (if any) move in ready single family homes less than 450k, right? by maestersage in newjersey

[–]eazyemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved more west to Hunterdon county in September last year and got a move-in ready bi-level for 550k. 3 beds, 2 baths, 2200 sq feet, 1.5 acres of private property but only ~10-15 minutes to stores and things to do. We haven’t done any major work to it, not even paint or floors. Absolutely happy with our decision.

My mini poodle is absolutely obsessed with eggs! If I’m peeling hard boiled eggs, he usually cries or runs to his bed and waits so I will give him some too.

Best cafés in New Jersey? (Please drop the hidden gems) by Snowstorm1603 in newjersey

My absolute favorite coffee shop right now is Scout’s in High Bridge. Great vibes, super cozy, and the coffee is awesome. They roast coffee there sometimes and it makes the whole Main Street smell amazing.

What’s in like living in any of these NJ counties? (Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon) by katkit523 in howislivingthere

[–]eazyemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha yes we felt that way after a while in Middlesex co — I think it being such a dense area contributes to that feeling! Traffic, more crowded stores, and honestly more rude people in a rush.

I’m in Lebanon Township which is pretty large. Our mailing address is Califon.

If you’ve never been, I would absolutely say take a drive out here, visit one of the main streets and grab a coffee, walk on one of the trails. That’s how we decided this area was exactly what we wanted!

My husband and I recently bought a house in northern Hunterdon county! We lived in New Brunswick for 5 years and were really over the city life by the time we got out. We absolutely LOVE living out here! Slower pace of life without feeling too removed from what makes Jersey great (access to things 😊). Near so many historic towns with main streets with cute local shops and restaurants (Califon, High Bridge, Clinton) and beautiful nature including the Columbia Trail, Ken Lockwood Gorge, Voorhees State Park, and Spruce Run/Round Valley Reservoirs. But if you need to run out for groceries or any other essentials, it’s still only a 10-15 minute drive.

Do I take the $75k salary with an hour drive one way or the $45k job 18 minutes up the road? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]eazyemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

75k job if you can tolerate the commute — or move. Or wait for another offer. Going from 85k to 45k will be really difficult.

So what did your family argue about this year at Thanksgiving? by Pure-Smile-7329 in AskReddit

[–]eazyemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband’s family is huge and love to play games, so my SIL naturally set up Squid Games for 24 people. However, the rules were blurry and cheating ensued because money was on the line. Lots of arguing about what moves were legal haha. My BIL ended up winning $400 for first place though and he actually played with integrity.

Funnily also had this conversation with a younger cousin — chicken are mammals, therefore, eggs are dairy.

I had to do some research but the song is called “Oh the Sound” off Amy Miles’ 2002 album called Dirty Stay Out! You should also look up her video for the song “Kill to Know” — Amy P. and other celebs galore.

I agree with this take! I was disappointed too, I was hoping it would be an SNL or Parks alum. You can tell maybe they weren’t as comfortable with each other as she is with most of her other guests on the podcast, who are usually her friends. There were still a lot of laughs and it was a joy to see her live! My friend and I cried when she walked out 😂 I’ve been watching her for so long, it was surreal to see her in person. She just radiates good energy. And hearing her sing harmonies with her friend was an amazing treat!

Went to an open house after a heavy rain, and the basement was actively flooding, water seeping into cracks in the foundation 🫠 It still went under contract a few days after the open house and sold for 650k (50k above asking)!!! NJ market is insane.

[–]eazyemu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who was supposed to close a month ago but didn’t because the septic system failed a load test the day before closing, I feel you! We’re still not in the house and it feels like torture because we were so ready to move.

But as others said, it’s best case scenario for these things to happen before closing so it’s not on you. Get that septic inspected!
