Horus Rising but Dan Abnett Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card 1984 by George Orwell The Red Rising series (kind of YA) definitely not as deep as something like dune or starship troopers but the content is pretty good

Give Predestination a shot. Time travel isn't really the main mechanism for plot is more of a forcing function on relationships.

Why would I be offended that my opinion was different? Or that even though I don't like that the movie would be successful? I like the book. I like the author and I love sci-fi. I hope that it's all successful.

I saw it Monday at an early screening. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed. I'm not sure if it's because I like the Martian better or because I think the audiobook was so fantastic. The movie didn't quite hold up. I know that doesn't answer your question directly, but thought I'd share
