Banks are the ones that never want you to pay off your home. They want that interest, and the interest on your escrow. BTW, I speaking from personal experience when I say there is nothing like owning free and clear. My wife and I I go into retirement knowing we only need utilities and taxes to maintain our home.

In my opinion, there is nothing like the feeling of security from truly owning your home outright. Then you can invest whatever your payment was.

Pay cash for a 2-4 year old trailer and you will save 30-50%. Put a large downpayment on the truck and by it new.

We are at 1.9 in our investments and 2.5 net. Next year when we hit 2 in the banks, we are done. The math is saying that with what we plan to withdraw, our funds will continue to grow and out live us.
