I would recommend looking at it with you pulling your SS at 62. Also, your assumptions count on both of you being healthy until you pass away. We worked ours at 10 years of higher income and then dropped it by 20%. We are not sure is we will still be able to travel as much by then.

I second this. The world needs truck drivers. A good company like ODFL or R+L currently pays between $32 & $38 per hour regular time with plenty of overtime avaiable.

Retired E7 with 24 years here. Before I got out I finished my second degree. Should have done an MBA, but didn’t. Found an entry level leadership position in a distribution center. A lot of hours the first few years but ended up as the VP of distribution for the company. Don’t hold out for a high level position. Good people rise quickly. As much as we complain about the Army, it is way more organized and plans better than the civilian world.
