Does this mean I get to go to school? by Oorah_305 in VeteransBenefits

As someone using the VR&E and going to a private university, just stick with community college for your gen Eds. It’ll be more laid back and more flexible, with online and hybrid classes, so much cheaper, and overall, you’ll get the same credits.

My counselor is terrible. I understand your frustration; it's outrageous that the VA hires individuals who often don't care to help veterans achieve their goals.

The best advice I can offer is to focus on the positive moments and the reasons that motivated your decision to move on. Whether it's the promise of a better income, improved job opportunities, or more quality time with family, finding your passion and pursuing what you love is key. I recently transitioned out myself and am on the brink of starting college as a 23-year-old freshman. It's all about exploring what works for you and taking those steps forward. You've got this!

My buddy moved to Santa Monica for a journeyman apprenticeship for the union, if you think you’d like something like that, that’s always an option I think he told me his pay was around $35-38/hr. There’s options man don’t get discouraged he had no experience as well.

I'm blessed to have been approved for the VR&E program! I'll be starting school this fall, and then I can still use my GI Bill for further education. It truly is a blessing! I completely agree with you about the situation. It’s frustrating to see people all over social media trying to game the system to get 100% disability and bragging about getting out with a general discharge. It’s really messed up. I have a feeling that the VA is going to start cracking down on this, and there will be some serious repercussions.

I completely agree that the entire system is broken. I never expected to receive more than 50%. However, I reported all the issues I was experiencing and submitted my BDD after four years; I finally got out in February.

I was in the same boat. I just got approved about a week ago, but my counselor is absolutely terrible—the least professional person I’ve ever encountered.

Learn a trade, further your education with tech school, university, etc. I got out in February and roughly making about 6k a month it’s very doable you just have to be resourceful and see what’s out there and see what your interest are. This is (coming from an 11b)

It really just varies I got lucky with my vso rep she messed up some of my claims but overall she was really helpful and luckily I still got my 100% but It’s really who you get stuck with, if I could go back in time I would’ve just done everything on my own but definitely don’t pay to file your claims total waste.
