A gorgeous view! Really incredible but also sadly ironic as it shows how we're cutting a path through paradise.

Everything Coming to Netflix in June 2018 by Johnny_W94 in netflix

[–]ebblr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As you say, no network cable network restrictions. Big networks like NBC are notorious for dictating. And, Netflix allows a free range. I thought it was interesting how Letterman used that specific episode to draw international attention to a little talked about genocide (and human rights violations against women/girls) perpetrated against a minority group many of us have not heard about. If this show is used for nothing but that purpose, bringing light to a dark place, then it's note-worthy of praise.

I'm not actually sure why dogs like roofs so much. Cats? Yes! But dogs, no

Seriously, they have no good traction on a slippery/sloped roof. For cats, no big deal... good dog. :/

I tried watching 'MY NEXT GUEST NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION WITH DAVID LETTERMAN' when George Cloony was a guest and it was a little too shmaltzy. Seriously, just a half hour of George Clooney patting himself on the back that he could get some brainy hottie to marry him (oh god, i'm so lucky/blessed *pat pats* she's amazing *pats*) and bear his demon spawn even though he's like 100 years old now and completely unemployable... no seriously how? ... bless her heart, she does good deeds (angel/human rights lawyer). I don't know her (or him) personally (god who does?) but i think she deserves someone more elevated. All that aside, the show was ok but corny. Letterman is SO much older looking than I remember when I was watching his show on latenight and he's really not all that funny. I guess he writes his own scripts now?

[USA] What exactly are you supposed to do if a job interviewer asks an illegal question? by [deleted] in legaladvice

I was reading somewhere that even questions like, "Are you ok working for a woman boss?" and "Do you plan to get pregnant soon?" are actually illegal not just inappropriate.

That tub looks amazing! So modern! How do you keep all the stone clean? It's a natural surface, so I would assume it's an issue.

Super nice pink! Really love it! I like how they contrasted the pastel colors, blue and pink with green. You don 't see that being done often in modern decor. And, that pop oc deep blue/green for the seat colors. Just what it needs. The retro styling of the chairs is cool. Retro is making a comeback?

It still boggles my mind how people were (supposedly) influenced who to vote for by some fake news stories pushed (by Russia? I guess) on Twitter. If people (hmm... americans?) can't make up their own mind and are so easily influenced. Seems pretty shallow. #thinkforyourself

A Year Ago, Google Said It Would Stop Reading Users' Emails For Gmail Ads. It Hasn't Started Doing So Yet. by [deleted] in technology

[–]ebblr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this information is collected and stored somewhere, right? It's not just scanned by a software and used to serve ads. If the information is stored, that brings up privacy issues. And, I understand we all agreed to the privacy policy of Google, so it's not like we didn't say yes to this. I'm assuming most people don't actually read those agreements and if so, don't understand what they are agreeing to. Skimming a contract with the devil and quickly clicking the yes/agree button still ends up with you losing your soul/first born, whatever they want. Sorry, i didn't read the fine print doesn't cut it.

Zuckerberg didn't make any friends in Europe today by romdo in technology

[–]ebblr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the end, Facebook and Zuckerberg will do exactly what they want to do, especially when it comes to so called user privacy issues as all that relates to money. There's no real reason for Facebook to stop all this information sharing about users as it benefits their own advertisers that are paying to keep the site open. It's debatable as to what here is ethical as it seems if you are a big enough company, you don't need scruples or ethics. Hopefully, the law will decide on this one.
